He took her hand and let her lead him out, trusting her knowledge of her own gardens to choose the best way out, though he really didn’t mind the mud very much. There was nothing he’d have her do that he wouldn’t…..that was just the way he was. Once on the path, he saw what he guessed to be his destination, and found it to be inviting, indeed.
This was a place he could see himself visiting often. It felt welcoming.
Triton realized, after a moment, that she was going to be leaving him alone here. It was what he wanted, certainly…..some time alone in a tranquil place to sort through everything and calm himself…..but he also felt it would be a loss not to have her company. It wouldn’t be fair of him, however, to inflict her with his presence when he was like this. He’d managed not to think very much up to this point, but his purpose here was to do just that, and the more he did, the more closed he would become. Amaterasu had already invited him here, made very thoughtful arrangements for him, and had shared something precious with him. He would repay the favour, but not when he was like this.
“Thank you, very much. This means a great deal to me. I’m very happy to have had the opportunity to come here.”
