The first thing Triton did after passing through the door was to unobtrusively take a deep breath. The air was clean and fresh, and it felt….wonderful. In addition to the clean feeling was the actual sight of the gardens……green and living, an unexpected oasis in this city. Triton managed to have some nice gardens at his home, but that was out of the city. Away from the noise, bustle, and fast pace of it all.
Amaterasu’s gardens were far more beautiful, and….here. This was like a refuge. Triton didn’t know if he’d be moving into the city just yet, but if he did, he would have to come here often. He took it all in silently for a few moments, enjoying the sight and the sounds of it. He wanted to see it all, wanted to see the pond he knew was nearby. He took a few more steps forward and couldn’t help but smile and let go of a small bit of the tension he found himself still holding onto. It was difficult not to in this place.
Triton’s attention was caught by Amaterasu’s words, and he turned to look at her. He’d been aware of her presence there this whole time, but he hadn’t expected her to say what she just did. He may not have been as deeply involved in what had been happening lately, despite being Poseidon’s son, but just the same, he was one of the Greek pantheon, and that, lately, made him someone to be kept at arm’s length.
Or, maybe, he just thought it made him that. Either way, he was glad to be welcomed here, glad to be greeted so warmly. It felt good. The small smile still on his face was proof.
“I would like that, very much. I can only imagine how pleasant that must be.” July seemed awfully far away…..but it was most certainly something to look forward to. “It must be wonderful to be surrounded by this every day. I can see why it gets busy here. I’m very glad,” he added quietly, “to have the chance to see it.”
