"I'm sure there are far more elaborate and beautiful ones to be seen, but we're proud of this little miracle hidden away within the city." Sliding open the shoji, Amaterasu stepped off to the side to allow Triton the room to pass through to the outside. It didn't matter how many times she herself passed through that door, it always brought a smile to her face. It had taken quite a bit of patience and hard work to cultivate the dead, empty area into the sprawling landscaping marvel that one would never dream to find tucked away in the East Village.
Lush green moss and grass primed the canvas, bolstered with a few Japanese black pine to hide away the nearby buildings and provide a protective canopy around the perimeter. Ferns, azaleas and all sorts of flora, both native and exotic, filled in between. The occasional tok of a deer chaser gave away the presence of the pond before it could be seen, a handful of golden koi dancing beneath the waters and nibbling at the lotus that were just beginning to blossom. Naturally smoothed stepping stones provided pathways for viewing the gardens, and a small trick of her own doing filtered out any outside pollution, be it environmental or the auditory sort that otherwise could not be avoided in the constantly moving city of New York. Her manipulation of the atmosphere also provided the added bonus of infusing the area with her presence, for some reason it proved enough to ward off any troublemakers who might otherwise make a nuisance of themselves around her properties.
"It has not quite reached it's full bloom just yet, but it gives a small taste of whats to come. And they're tucked away unseen for now, but in a few more months, there are many night blooming species to admire during the warm summer evenings. If you'd like, I shall have to send you an invitation for the small gathering I like to throw one evening each July."
