He knew she was coming. Triton had not yet seen the one reason he’d come back, his plans to do so interrupted. At first, he’d thought he’d have time, had thought he could meet with her when she could. He had met with his mother, had started looking for a place to stay that was close to everyone…..but then he’d offered his home to Internet. He didn’t regret it……..it was to keep him safe, give him a place to hide…….but it had changed things. Several things, and now Triton was left frustrated and torn.
Finally seeing Athena wouldn’t fix anything, but it was all he wanted at the moment. He’d missed her. He needed to talk to her, needed to see for himself she was there, she was safe.
The doorbell rang and he was immediately pulled away from what he’d been working on. He was there in moments. Triton opened the door and stood still, unable to do anything but just look at Athena in relief. Happiness. The smile that had not appeared since he’d met his mother came back, and he found himself opening his arms just as he had done then.
