Some people might consider it somewhat rude to interrupt another person's private meal. Coffee was of the somewhat less popular view that it was rude not to say something to one's fellow diners. After all, how had coffeehouses begun if not as places for people to meet? Third places, even, where folks of all different walks were free to mingle, regardless of their social background, united by their common appreciation for the atmosphere the place provided and, of course, that one delightful drink.
As she spoke, Coffee turned to shoot the newly-arrived patron a friendly smile, but when she saw the woman's face she realised she already knew it, and the smile widened into one of real delight. "Steamy? Oh man, I don't believe this, what are you-- no, hold on, let me--" Without waiting for either an answer or an invitation, she rose from her own seat and crossed over to Steam Power to greet her with a light kiss on the cheek, before plonking herself down in the vacant chair opposite. "God. Wow. Sweetie, you look amazing. I had no idea you were even in town!"
