A small part of her would have liked to hear something a little sweeter in response to her question, but it was also the part of her that would have written him off as really not worth any time. Iris was hardly mystified as to why she was here...it was part of the reason she’d agreed. No harm in talking to someone like him, no harm in striking up a nice, polite relationship. She understood it perfectly, and would have been completely shocked if he hadn’t been thinking the same. Nonetheless, it wasn’t the entire reason...at least, she silently added, on her side.
As for the problems of her pantheon...everyone seemed to know about that. The struggles, the interfering, the fights and deaths - she could only imagine what he thought of it. She held back a sigh. “I can only hope that will be sorted out soon. It has been...trying.” To say the least.
Iris’ gaze was pulled from Jamie’s steady one when the waiter chose that moment to arrive. She found it hard to mind when ordering food was so much more pleasant than attempting to hold back what she thought of the whole mess.
