Losing her marbles

"Are these for your child?" the clerk asked with a smile.
Kali held the money tightly in her outstretched hand and eyed the woman with a frown. She shifted the bag that held her purchase and wondered if it wouldn't be more productive to just use them to smash the smiling idiot in the face.
No. It would be fun but not nearly as chaotic as what Kali was looking for. "No, they are for me," Kali replied, letting the money drop to the counter.
"Oh," the clerk said with some surprise. "Well, enjoy them!"
Kali walked out the door without looking back. The bag made a melodic sort of noise as it swung in her hand. Outside of the store, Kali turned down the block, making her way into a crowded intersection. Noon meant lunch and even though a majority of the traders were huddled in the Stock Exchange, the rest of the Financial District was out, trying to find something to eat.
Though they occasionally brushed against each other, it was, overall, a well choreographed dance. There were no collisions, no stop to the flow of people. It was false chaos, one that most people would overlook but for someone like the Goddess of Chaos, it was unbearable. A fallacy. A lie.
Kali held her shopping bag up a bit and picked at the plastic until there was a little hole. And then she walked into the mass of people. With each step, the bag bounced just enough so that a marble could find freedom. It would clattered to the ground, barely audible over the noises of the rushing crowd.
In the beginning nothing changed. People still went on, determined to reach whatever location they were heading too. And then one of them stumbled and another fell and soon the carefully maintained pattern of midday Manhattan pedestrian traffic began to fall apart. People started to collide into each other, some tumbled to the ground, and finally people thought something was really wrong and they started to push to get away.
Kali simply drank in the commotion going on around her as she continued to walk down Wall Street.
