Okay okay okay, so Skelly's posts are really important and you have to reply to them or the world will probably end, but that aside, I thought it might be helpful for everybody to catch up if we went "hi, my name is Albert, and I play Grindelwald, and for the past two weeks he has been knitting fetching bodices." Only with who we really are, who we really play, and what those characters have actually been doing. (But really, aren't we all Albert, at heart?) This will help us get back into the swing of things instead of wondering what to post as, due to nobody posting, we have NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON.

I will start.

I am Caitlyn.

twelfthson (Benjy Fenwick) has spent the past two weeks smoking and drinking too much and spending half his time at the Prophet office or doing Prophet related things, and half of it having intense discussions with his friends about the world coming to an end. He has been gripped by an intense feeling of helplessness because while he knows a lot of people with good intentions, he does not know anyone with a realistic plan for fixing this. (Barring Sirius's plans to blow up the Ministry, and Jack's plans that are probably there and probably involve concepts Benjy cannot understand. Who knows.) He has slept very, very little. He has had a lot of arguments with his superiors at the Prophet because they are already being encouraged to Write What They Are Told. Not in such a way that sets off serious alarm bells for most people; more along the lines of 'this is a very unstable time for the Ministry; please don't get people unnecessarily hurt by jeopardizing our position even more.' However, as Benjy is a Crazy Liberal Media Man, he foams at the mouth when so instructed, and his job is slightly precarious right now, not that he's admitting it.

hopped (Lindy Hoppenforth) has been spending most of his time wishing his friends would stop being so upset, and probably being really, really, really, really, really, really, really stressed out. He has been chainsmoking at an astonishing rate, and drinking lots of tea. He spends a lot of time looking helplessly at Jack wishing he could make things better. He still does not understand why Bellatrix is So Bad.

saidsid (Sid Demedici) is slowly admitting that Bellatrix might be something awful, having spent the past few weeks asking people why they're so upset over her election. She's been spending a lot of her time around Jack & Lindy's flat, discussing things with people. She's had a couple of arguments with her oldest brother lately, who has been getting on her case about Jack. (She has not mentioned this to anyone.) Her closer brother and her have been having secret discussions about the advisability of leaving the country, but at this point, they are not serious discussions.

bonedbones (Edgar Bones) has spent the past two weeks discreetly getting important people hired to the Ministry. Assuming Jack has not refused Edgar's offer, he is one of them. He has spent an astounding amount of time at the Ministry, working on various things, and, yes, occasionally discreetly destroying half-done projects of his he thinks it would be unfortunate for the present administration to get its hands on. He has noticed a higher degree of monitoring in the Department of Mysteries, and is not happy about it. He has only really been seeing people at work, and Rose. He is perpetually tired.

rodoofus (Rodolphus Lestrange) has been basking in the glory of the situation, having lots of sex with Bellatrix, and looking good in public. :)

:: soon enough, Bellatrix will cut funding to a few different departments in the Ministry, being games&sports, ALL muggle-related departments, and IDK what ever else.
:: Bellatrix's ministry will ALSO start funding propaganda in the form of pamphlets about topics such as HOW INFERI ARE BAD FOR YOU and WHY THE MUGGLE AGENDA IS EVIL
:: Aurors and Hit Wizards receive more funding so as to recruit more people. Rumour has it that Mrs. Lestrange is forming an Army.
:: Mrs. Lestrange also has appointed entirely new Department Heads, all are pureblooded and within her close circle of friends.
:: VERY SOON, a curfew will be enforced on the whole country, and quite voluntarily as it begins. We'll see where this takes us.

Okay, so here's my life right now.

I'm a third year university student with an Anthropology/English double major. This means that my life is even more filled with reading than the average university student, as Anth and English are wordy, wordy subjects. As of last semester, I was a straight A student, which means that yes, I do all my readings, yes, I'm usually doing research for something, and yes, I always have something due soon and I will do it on time. Aside from taking four university courses, I'll shortly be starting my high school math outside of school (probably online), because I didn't take it the first go around and I need it to be accepted into Social Sciences to complete the Anth half of my degree. I work part-time as a barista at a coffee shop, usually about three times a week. I'm a volunteer on the entertainment and opinions sections of my school paper, which means I generally have at least one thing due to at least one section every Monday, and go in on Wednesdays to help with proofreading. I'm a member of the Save the Children club at school and plan on joining other clubs this week. I'm an active member of the local music scene in my city and am actually in the process of putting together a collaborative blog with some other people to keep track of all the gig listings in the city to encourage more people to come out to shows. As you might have been able to guess, I have a great deal of affection for the written word, and like to pursue my own personal writing as well as things like RP. I also flirt with music, which means I need to practice guitar for at least half an hour a day. I also try to work out for at least half an hour a day. Also, I eat, sleep, and breathe.

This means I'm an extremely busy person. In fact, I strongly suspect that I have more shit on my plate than the vast majority of other RPers, or at least more shit on my plate that I can't RP while doing. Obviously I don't know the minutiae of all of your lives, but I know for a fact that I have more obligations than a lot of you, and I also know that I've been posting more than a significant majority of that lot of you.

Our activity rules state that people have to post once a week with each of their characters. I'd tell you who's actually fulfilled that obligation, but unfortunately our activity mod is one of the people who hasn't, on top of not keeping track of activity, which makes me giving you that information a little hard. As stated in the rules, we're not asking you to dedicate every waking hour to this RPG. Just a little bit of effort, here and there. Logging on every day you have time and commenting a bit, posting now and then. Participating. Forming connections. Coming online for chats. Plotting. Making this place a worthwhile task.

So far, most people aren't doing that. I don't want to sound ungrateful -- I am so, so happy that those of you who have posted have done so -- but as it stands right now, this is not a worthy use of my time.

If this RPG is not significantly more active by October 15, I will be quitting it. If someone else wants to step up to the plate and do the main modding at that time, Fault Lines may continue, but I can't really see that happening if it's at the same depressing level it's at now. I know I haven't been around this week and I apologize for this; I literally had no significant chunk of free time from August 29th until now, aside from one night in which I was sick and another in which I was so bone-weary all I could do for myself was relax, so I haven't been a very good mod. I will do my best to remedy that this week, and beyond. I'm going to do my part. I am sincerely begging all of you to do yours, because I can't make this an enjoyable use of your time unless you work hard, too.

I'm about to start putting together volume one of the Fault Lines soundtrack. This is not only a clever marketing tactic, but also a great way for us to share good music with each other!

Currently, the only music that's FOR SURE going to be on it is everyone's theme songs. However, other music that a) fits your character(s) or b) suits Fault Lines is more than welcome. Thus, if you have suggestions other than what's beneath the cut? Say so! It might end up being split into a couple parts if we get a lot of songs.

Just for volume reasons, it would be ideal if you could keep your extraneous suggestions to 3 per character and 2 general Fault Lines. (So, for example, myself, with 5 characters, could suggest up to 17 songs.) There will be many volumes after this, so you'll have plennnnnty of time to suggest the many many songs I'm sure you'd like to.

HELLO FOLKS how the heck are ya? I hope well, I hope really well.

(in case we don't know each other, i'm skell. i'm kind of a mod maybe, but probably i just sit around and twiddle my thumbs and talk about dinosaurs when i should be modding. whatever, that doesn't matter.)

So let it be known, I'm gonna be gone a few days. This usually isn't a big deal and usually I don't give a crap about people being gone a few days because more often than not I'll just dick around here and not sign on and give people the idea that I have a life when, in fact, I wicked don't.

But I'm writing this up now because in this post I'd like some feedback about your characters, what's going on in their world, and maybe some fun plot points from the mods. I'm also not opposed to email. Simply because when I get back I'd really like to get the ball rolling on the first chapter of FAULT LINES: THE STORY SO FAR. it's a modern epic, very contemporary but also relatively science-fictiony.

Remind me later to tell you about some of the ideas Caitlyn and I have been tossing around. They're pretty good ideas, man. Just brewing there. Waiting till they're stewing. Yeeeah.

SO PLEASE, comrades! Tell me some ideas so I can chuck 'em down into storybook form while I'm gone.
