Wendy was going mad. Or she'd gone mad, that was clearly the only explanation here. Madness. One moment she'd been going to get Helena and the next, bam, sitting in front of some bloke in a white coat, with her baby nowhere in sight. Of course she'd been so dazed at first she hadn't even noticed that, something she scolded herself for after. But when she did notice, all hell broke loose- at least inside Wendy's mind. Clearly it had already broken loose around her. She was in the middle of nowhere, and there was a journal talking to her, and God only knew what was going on. This has the makings of Cherise all over it, and when Wendy got home and found her, she was going to give her such a kicking. If it wasn't Cherise, then it really was madness and the men in the white-coats had come to claim her, so she honestly hoped it was Cherise. That was much preferable to having gone mad.
The people in the book kept saying Helena was okay, but Wendy didn't care. She needed to see her baby, she needed to know for herself that she was alright. Nothing was going to stop her from doing that, just let them try. Closing her book decisively, Wendy shouldered her purse and Helena's diaper and made her way through the hospital in search of a familiar face. When she spotted John, standing in the hospital just like they'd told her he would be, Wendy felt her shoulder sag slightly in relief. Running her fingers through her mass of dark curls, she hurried across the room towards John, worry etched in the lines of her face. "John, thank god. Do you have Helena? You swear she's okay? Where is she? I have her bottle, she must be getting hungry, who knows how long it's been..."
