Who: Sirius and JamesKnap (Open to other members of the knap!Black-Lupin-Potter family)
What: Reuniting
When: Friday evening
Where: Omicron hall
Warnings: CUDDLES

He was damn happy to be done with that world. As fun as it had been joking around for James for a week or day as they tried to sort everything out, it had been exhausting to try and explain everything to James every damn day. At least James had believed him. But the fun had worn thin after awhile, and Sirius -- strange as it was -- was glad to be back at the compound. It was more normal, even if he had no idea what was coming at them next.

He was heading down the hall, back toward his room for the time being. He hadn't bothered looking at his journal much when they had flipped. He had seen some business about snowing (and his inner Padfoot was quite excited about the prospect of going for a romp in the snow) but mostly he just wanted to see if he was actually free of the loop. He was pretty sure that he was. Things just felt different -- the few people he'd run into weren't doing the same things that they had always been doing.

It was really pretty funny, how quickly James had embraced the concepts of adultery and teacher-student relations when he'd been put into a situation where he was a married professor and Lily was his student. He had minor reservations about ruining the poor bloke's career and marriage, but those had gone out the window pretty quickly. It hadn't been real, anyway-- at least, he didn't think it had. None of the worlds they visited seemed real to him. He wasn't even sure the compound was real. What was real was the people, his family, and the world he had left back home. Very little else mattered.

He'd not paid much attention to the countdown, or to the dance for that matter, because Lily had taken him on a "field trip" to his own classroom. He had just stepped back out the door, still fiddling with the buttons of his shirt, when he suddenly wasn't in Pleasantville anymore. His eyes were overwhelmed with colour, and he found himself standing in the Omicron hallway rather than the hallway of the school. He blinked at the sudden brightness, the sudden processing of colors, and then...

He was seeing things, he had to be. That was Sirius standing in the hallway, just a little ways away, his Sirius; but his Sirius was gone. Had he returned? Did he know James? For a moment he was stunned speechless, unsure if he was about to get attacked or whether he was allowed to do the excited attacking. He took a step forward, hands still frozen halfway through doing up his shirt, having completely forgotten what he was doing.

"Sirius?" he managed after a second, voice slightly hoarse.

Sirius turned at the sound of his name to see James standing not far off, looking distinctly mussed (that slag) and as if was supremely confused on what was going on. Sirius couldn't help but raise one eyebrow and stare back at Sirius, his expression belying that he didn't entirely understand why it was that James seemed so shell-shocked or why exactly it was that he'd said his name like that.

"Don't think I've seen you in years," Sirius answered -- and hey, that was probably an exaggeration. He didn't really think that they'd been kept in that world for maybe longer than a month, month and a half, but it'd been pretty difficult to keep track of time in there.

"You look like shite, Potter," Sirius tacked on a second later, unable to resist ruffling James' proverbial feathers. He reached for his wand so that he could help James get straightened out and started to walk toward him. He was certain that Moony's ironing charm was still better than his, but he would do what he could to help his best mate out.

The words barely registered in James's stunned mind; the expression, however, did. He didn't look murderously angry, but he didn't look happy to see James, either. And he was going for his wand. James's hopes plummeted, and he reached for his own wand, holding it ready at his side.

Caught off guard, without having had the chance to steel himself against Sirius's anger, his face was an open book-- well, he'd planned on being that way anyway, in this situation, so it didn't matter. His expression was a study in consternation, heartache, and wariness, and he stood tensed, trying to brace himself for the fight that he was anticipating. "I'm not going to hurt you," he said, raising his free hand in a gesture of peaceful surrender. "And trying to hurt me isn't going to work. Just... let's talk for a second, alright?"

Sirius stopped a few steps away from James when he suddenly pulled his wand out, and he was certain that the look of confusion on his face deepened, because he didn't have any idea what James was talking about. In fact, he sounded too much like he had right after Sirius had arrived here -- or at least he did from what little Sirius could remember of that interaction. Really, he mostly remembered punching James.

He swallowed heavily, and tried to clear his throat, but he was certain that his voice came out a bit thick when he spoke anyway.

"Your buttons are all mucked up, you twat," he said, gesturing at the front of James' shirt with his wand, although he didn't dare cast the spell now. He didn't know why exactly James thought that he'd gone back to what he was, but it scared him a bit. Maybe that this wasn't the same James that had met him here -- maybe James had forgotten everything they had gone through together. It terrified him to think of having to confess everything to James again.

Surprise flickered across James's face, before realization sunk in. Sirius knew him, remembered him for the best mate that he was, not the supposed jealous murderer. He didn't know why Sirius wasn't more confused-- even Lily, when she'd been given her memories back upon returning, had been confused-- or why he cared about James's buttons of all things, but he was beyond caring.

The tension eased from his body, and a smile started to appear on his face. Before it had fully formed, he had dropped his wand and was throwing himself at his best friend, hugging Sirius tight around his shoulders and his head. "Pads," he said, breathlessly pleased and utterly relieved not to have to go through the process of getting his friend to trust him again. "I missed you."

Sirius was a bit surprised when James threw himself at him so suddenly, but he wrapped his arms around James reflexively, not entire minding when his face got crammed awkwardly against James' chest, even though he couldn't breathe quite right, and he didn't even know what James was doing to his hair.

"I don't go anywhere, Prongs," Sirius said with something of a muffled laugh, patting James awkwardly on the back.

He didn't know what the hell was going on, or why James was acting as if he was the one that had gone somewhere. He knew it had to do something with the last world -- with how he'd been stuck in the same loop. But he didn't understand. He'd talked to James during those days. They'd done ridiculous things to try and break the loop.

Lily had to hand it to the Scientists, this world was pretty swell. And where others may have found adversity in their roles, Lily had merely found a challenge. An exciting challenge. It was easy to overwhelm the second voice in her head because she was certain her love for James was more powerful than any other magic—hell, she'd beat the memory charms, hadn't she? And she couldn't lie, the moment she'd crossed that threshold of the student-teacher relationship with him, she'd felt younger than she had in years in a really good way.

Figuring that the dance was over and that there ought to be a clear exit, Lily had started redressing in the classroom. Unfortunately, she'd lost her sweater blouse and it probably wasn't a good idea to be caught outside topless. Quietly, she opened the door and stepped out, hoping to catch James to see if he had her top before he got too far.

She was more than confused when, after stepping into the hallway, the school had disappeared and she was back in Omicron's hallway. And there before her was not her top but, rather, Sirius. Ignoring any other intents and the fact she she was quite obviously disheveled, she dropped all pretense of quiet and ran toward him just as he pulled back from James' hug. Within moments, she'd jumped him, arms and legs both wrapped around him. "YOUUUUUU," she said with a tone of joy, "Youuuuu, Shaggy." She'd be mindful of whether or not he still knew what was happening in a few minutes. For the time being, she wanted pure, unadulterated joy at the fact that their Sirius was here.

Sirius took half a step back, and pressed a hand briefly up against James' face, smiling a little. He didn't know why exactly James was so upset, or how they had been separated, but, he was, of course, regretful that he had burdened his brother with the possibility of disappearing again.

Before he could say anything at all (and it wasn't going to be soppy, because he was never a sop), he heard someone shouting. He looked just past James in order to see Lily racing down the hall toward him -- not wearing a shirt.

He was only belatedly able to make this observation because mere seconds later she had jumped up on him. Sirius was forced to take half a step backward, nearly losing his balance, but he put his arms around Lily to hold her steady as he also tried to remain sturdy. It was then that he was reminded that Lily didn't have a top on.

"Hello Red," Sirius said smiling up at her. "Wee Reds," he said, glancing down at her chest.

James was not at all willing to let Sirius go, but he had gone entirely to mush and wasn't really capable of resisting either. He grinned at Sirius, eyes a little too bright. He didn't have words either, but they definitely would have been sappy ones. Thankfully, he wasn't given the chance to embarrass himself.

He had almost entirely forgotten about Lily, in his astonishment at seeing Sirius. He might have felt guilty, except that she completely bypassed him and made a beeline for Sirius as well; he gave a slightly thick laugh at the sight of the two of them, his heart swelling even more.

"Oi, mate," he said, sounding far too amused to be mistaken for being truly upset or jealous, "I've missed your pretty face. Don't make me mess it up."

Lily laughed freely at Sirius' comment, not even caring, really, that was very nearly half naked. As a doctor, she didn't think it was a big deal and, as Lily, she didn't think it mattered more than the fact that they had their Sirius back.

Reaching out behind her, she grabbed hold of James and pulled him closer, too, perpetuating the biggest group hug she could possibly muster. "Wherever you've been, asshole, you've been missed. Don't leave us again," she said.

Merlin, she loved her family. Her family was meant to be together. Her, James, Sirius, Remus, Harry, Johnny, Abby, she wanted all of them to stay near her. She'd spent too much time at home without the majority of her family so she intended to cling to them here

Sirius smiled over at James as Lily pulled him closer. It was obvious that they had thought that he was gone for some reason, no matter what had happened. The idea didn't full him with a lot of joy, but he couldn't deny that he enjoyed such a warm reception from the two of them.

"I didn't go anywhere," Sirius said, laughing wryly. "I was here the entire time."

He could only assume that this was some trick by the scientists -- which he hated. He didn't like that there were other people who could take him away from the people that he loved. It seemed like there was always something that threatened the rather tenuous hold they all had on one another.

It didn't matter one whit to James, either. Lily's comfort level with Sirius seemed to be around the same as his own, now, and that was a beautiful thing. When their confidence in each other had been shakier, it might have mattered more, but his belief in the both of them had gone back to being absolutely rock solid. He gladly joined the group hug, wrapping his arms tight around them both and kissing them each on the cheek in turn before burying his face in Sirius's shoulder.

"Liar," he said. "You've been gone a month." He didn't know exactly how it could work that Sirius had thought he'd been here this whole time, but he wasn't trying terribly hard to figure it out. He was starting to get used to the idea that people might come and go here, and he'd decided that he was just going to focus on loving them as hard as he could while they were here. He'd finally shed the insecurity that came with his loved ones doubting him and forgetting him, and even if they had taken Lily and Sirius away again, the scientists didn't seem inclined to make him go through that part more than once. That was something, at least.
