Lily shut her eyes for a moment, and simply remained close to James, a quiet smile curving her lips as James hugged her. She knew it was ridiculous to think that everything would be all right now, but she usually felt that way when she was being hugged by James -- when they were with all of their friends, or when her mother was telling Harry some story before bedtime. It was always these moments that made it seem abundantly clear that they were fighting for the right side.
She was still smiling when she pulled away, although she was certain she looked a bit baffled for an instant to see that James was crying.
"Hey you," she said gently, pressing a soft kiss against his mouth. "I love you, too."
