"You think I'd put that past you for a minute?" Sirius answered with a wry grin, inclining his head toward her as she kept them walking. He was, however, fairly certain that they weren't meandering about in a circle. It felt like they had a destination in mind.
He could hear a door opening and felt that they were entering a room, and he held tight tight to Lily all the while, feeling as if he was going to trip and fall at any moment. Finally they stopped walking, and he stood there awkwardly for just a moment before he felt Lily lean into him. She pulled off the blindfold and everything was too bright for just a moment -- and then he was able to focus on her happy face -- and then the cake, and then paint.
Sirius couldn't help but let out a laugh. He closed the small distance between them, wrapping an arm around her waist as he surveyed the colors that were waiting for them. His memories of them redecorating Grimmauld Place were truly some of his favorites, even now. They had taken one of the darkest, gloomiest places in all the world and made it into something truly beautiful.
"Thank you, Red," he answered, pressing a kiss to the side of her head.
