"I know that our world is absolutely awful," Remus answered and his voice was still hushed as he spoke. He clung to Sirius in anyway that he could, because it helped him to feel anchored. "And I know that we're far from perfect there. But it's our life together, Sirius. And I love you, and I love being with you, and I feel like you'd trade that all in for this place."
His voice got a bit thick at the end. And he knew that it maybe wasn't far to say that to Sirius, but he did feel that by valuing this place so much, it devalued the life they had come from in some way. There were a lot of horrible things they put up with from day to day, but Remus had always gotten through them because of Sirius. And it felt like, here, a Sirius from his own future was saying that, perhaps, it wasn't all worth it after all.
