Peter didn't notice Juni come in, but wasn't terribly startled when she spoke. He was expecting her, after all, and he turned his head to smile at her. "Morning, princess," he said, and kissed the top of her head before waving her to sit down at the table. He'd timed it well, and served up two plates of hot french toast, sliding one of them in front of her. He'd already set fresh strawberries, cream, butter, and syrup on the table for them to add to their breakfast.
He took his own seat across from her, and smiled at her. He still hadn't figured out how to broach the subject, but he decided to start by asking a question. "Do you like it here, Juni?" he asked, as he took some of the strawberries to top his own toast. "Are you happy here? Do you miss things from back home?"
