Who: Marie and Dennisbdh
What: Reliving old tricks
When: After he went shopping with Arayna, night
Where: Diagon Alley
Rating: Likely High

Oh, it was just as he remembered. The years may have passed him by, and he had allowed himself to turn away the profession of a cardshark to that of an even worse realm, but the cards remained the same. As did the players. Easy to read, easy to beat. First, he had gone the rounds without the interception from Marie, so as to test his skills at their highest peek. It was just like riding a bicycle and before he knew it he had enough galleons to buy rounds for everyone in the establishment. And then it just became for the sake of fun. A glance to Marie, a casual smirk, and then she was part of their own game.

And, oh, were they the perfect team. It had been so long that he had nearly forgotten. He couldn't help but chuckle as men seemed to forget what was at stake from her presence and her attention. Foolish, they were, simply foolish. By several rounds in, it was practically like stealing candy from a child. Drinks kept coming and now, with a heaping pile of coin, he motioned for Marie.

"Enough of being their good luck charm," he said, fairly in character of their old act, "come be mine," he added, for which was new. Truthfully, he didn't know why he had but he was in a rare good spirit. And he wanted his dearest friend close.

It really hadn't been long since Marie was last helping Dennis with a card game. Marie and Dennis made more money by the least effort they both put into their scheme. Dennis had his brain and poker face. Marie had her looks and the ability to flirt exceedingly well. She had been sitting in the highest bidder's lap. It was common courtesy. The more money a man put into the pot, the more attention she gave to him. Marie pretended to not know a thing about cards, when she actually knew what was going on. Men liked that. To feel they were in some sort of control.

She wore her regular tight fitting and revealing clothes, enough to catch the attention of any man. Marie snuggled up close to the bidder, feeling she had had a drink or two too much. However, when beckoned by Dennis, she didn't think twice. Immediately, she got up from the bidder's lap and threw his cards on the table. "It was fun. Better luck next time."

With a smirk, she wrapped and arm around his waist, putting her weight into him. "I think...I can have a few more drinks. What about you?"

Oh, he could see the immediate flash of anger from the other bidder, and a burst of laugher erupted from his gut. In that moment, without the aid of the scientists, he was young once again. He was a man of fifteen years back, cheeky and devious and the best kind of scoundrel. His arm wrapped in return around his dearest Marie, pocketing the coins, though he saw no use for them. What good would they be in a compound with no currency? Perhaps they would just use them to buy meaningless crap during this world. He could always use a few good Weasley products.

Her weight was against him and his eyes flashed down to her. "Oh, my song bird, I can have quite a few more drinks." He had far too many already. His judgment was already thrown against the wind.

"Well I'd hope so...because I'm not ready to go home yet. Not ever." Marie didn't want to go back to her lonely little room or to Hogwarts. Neither of those places brought a since of happiness everyone was seeking there. No...she found it at the side of her best friend, drunk, and knowing they had made enough money to last through the week. Or as many drinks as they could carry that night.

"I've missed this." She smiled and leaned her head against his shoulder, her nose nuzzling his neck taking in his scent. He hadn't change, not in her eyes and it was moments like these that she always wanted to hold onto forever.

"Come on...get me plastered already."

"Nor am I, pet," he agreed. He didn't want to be in the compound and he certainly didn't want to go to Hogwarts. No, Diagon Alley felt more like home. He would have simply done anything to just have them back in Diagon forever. Without the constant threat of Nathan. He had saved money. They could live without her providing for them forever. It would have been perfect. Freeing.

He shifted, pressing his lips to the top of her hair, as he nodded in quiet agreement. He missed it too. He missed when life was simple. His darling Marie didn't have his worries and he made certain she wouldn't ever.

"So demanding for a lady," he chuckled, making his way to the bar. "Oi, two mugs, bitter topped off with the firewhiskey, got it?" He ordered, slipping the coins forward. He was never one to handle the firewhiskey alone. He needed the ale to take the edge off. Of course, it always had him lying on the floor far quicker. When the tender slid the mugs over, he picked one up and handed it off to her, before taking his own.

"I'm a lady now?!" Marie couldn't help but to laugh. "You of all people should know I am no lady." After the drinks out of the other men's cups, Marie was feeling a little more than tipsy and a little more affectionate than she probably would have been sober. Especially around Dennis. As soon as Dennis sat down and ordered his drink, Marie squeezed her way in between the bar top and the stool Dennis was sitting on. Marie sat in his lap quite comfortably, giving a wink to the men that stared.

Accepting the drink, she took a rather long gulp before taking a breather. Leaning back, she looked up to Dennis and smiled. He had aged, but not necessarily in a bad way. He no longer had the boyish charm but the ruggedness of a man and before she could continue her thoughts even more, she took another long drink from her glass. "So...Dennis...if we don't go back there...where do we go? I can only imagine they wouldn't be fond of us passing out here on the floor." Another long drink and over half of her firewhiskey was gone. There was no question Marie could drink...she just could not hold her liquor much at all.

"No, I think you are a lady, just a different kind. A better kind. A Marie kind," he explained through his grins and with a few sparse giggles. Dennis had never held his liquor well. He was quite the light weight. His arm looped around her in a protective manner when she sat down and he tried to ignore the gaze her skirt riding up her legs from sitting down.

"They have rooms. Talk about old times, think we have enough coin for one? Maybe we'll get lucky and this one will have two pillows."

"It'd be old times if we had enough coin, but there would only be one pillow. I never minded sharing my pillow with you though." That much was true. She downed the rest of her drink and stood up, pulling on his hand to follow suit.

"Come on..." Marie leaned over the bar top and motioned for the owner to come over. After a flirtatious smile, a slight hint of her neckline, Marie waved a key to Dennis. "He says there are two pillows...pity." With a giggle, she grabbed his hand and lead him up the stairs, trying to walk in a straight line and failing miserably.

"I think..." She squinted her sparkling blue eyes at the door before them. After a wiggling of the key in the door, it opened before them. "Ha. Got it."
