Who: Astro and Siriusbaby
What: A father/daughter chariot ride
When: today
Where: OUT AND ABOUT.
Warnings: a less happy Astro then normal?

Astro wasn't necessarily accustomed to being uncertain of her emotions and feelings. Normally, she knew precisely what was upsetting her or making her excited. She typically had a firm grasp upon her own thoughts and yet, today, she had felt as though she had been run over by a truck; with no real indication as to why. Perhaps, she had thought, it was because of her own fleeting mind. Mr. Lupin, from whatever world he was, had warded all of the families of the Marauders.

And it reminded her how she was the only one of her siblings who could respond. She was representing all of the Black children, when so often she was used to just representing a Seventh. Just Astro. She missed her family. She missed her Aunts and Uncles. She missed the way Remus would get that look in his eyes when she and Eris would come tumbling into the Lupin household, as if a hurricane was about to approach. The look that would make her giggle and throw her arms around him. Or how she would prod at Branwen, always determined to get him riled up, but it taking so much effort. And Aunt Petunia's cookies. And cheering on Uncle James' league at Quidditch leagues. Or lunches in the depths of Gringotts with Bill. And her flat with the girls.

She missed all of it. Today just was more so then normal. Maybe that was what it was. Or maybe not. Merlin knew she had a few other things she was trying to not think on beside that.

Coming up towards the holding area of the Chariots, she looked towards her Father with a subdued smile. "I brought grapes," she mentioned. She didn't know why but she felt like telling him.

Nothing was ever whole in this place. Sirius had learned how to cope with loss. And there was plenty to keep him busy, so that the quiet moments to think about his children, to think about James and Lily and Remus and Petunia and his nieces and nephews... They were not so much to consume everything. Admittedly, even Sirius would not have been able to deal with that loss were they dead and were not other versions of some of them present in this place as well. He liked to think he was awfully healthy for possibly having been dead for hundreds of years (it really only made sense if everyone who came here was in the past for the scientists, and there had been some people from a ways in the future).

Part of that business was helping his family when they needed him. And Astro, who had been amazingly resilient, needed him. It was a welcome time, to spend with his daughter. She had grown up on him, so that she was far more independent than he was used to. He was used to spending much more time with her. Concerned as he was for her, Sirius was happily grinning to see her. "In true greek style," Sirius gave her a hug. "Your chariot awaits." And he meant it...literally.

She held onto the hug far longer then she had in recent memory. Her arms had locked around him, holding him close to her, as her face pressed into his chest. She hadn't spent nearly as much time as she should have with her parents in this compound, primarily because she was used to long stretches of time passing before she ventured to see them, between her own school schedule and then the busyness of his work. It was just normal in her adulthood. She would pop by for breakfast on occasion, usually before a lecture that she would likely sleep through, and then not swing by for another week. Yet, she felt a twinge of guilt about this now, for she knew her parents were not on the same line as she. They were used to younger children in constant rotation. She made a mental note to try and increase her time with them; and not just when she felt like enjoying the safety of her father's hugs.

She finally pulled back and gave a subtle nod. "I figured we might want them later on," she commented before peeking around him to look at the Chariot. She had been enjoying her practices but she still felt as if it was far too simple for her to master. Hollywood had given her false expectations. She moved towards the chariot, climbing into the passenger side, before leaning back and glancing back towards him. "Maybe you should take Mum on a moonlight ride. How often will she get to claim that happened?"

Astro smelled different and the same at once. Sirius wasn't sure if there was anything proven, but he had always felt like his sense of smell had improved since being able to transform into a dog. There was a lot of time between them that he hadn't experienced or been there for. About half her life. It was a good hug that Sirius didn't rush. In the history of hugging, some had lasted much longer than this. Sirius was so very pleased to be able to help Astro, as much as he wanted her to be her own woman. He was used to a lot of kids depending on him, and he'd been preparing himself for not tucking them in every night, but that had been a year off. How long had he been here? Three months? Or thereabouts. He was thirty then. Even if it weren't September here.

"It's always best to bring food and be prepared and all that," Sirius replied, "I brought water." With the heat, that was just as important, and wand water never tasted the same to him. But it was stored away because Sirius used both hands for driving the chariot. It was more like a motorbike than a car in many ways. "With a chariot? Not so much," Sirius admitted, "But she's welcome to a moonlit ride on Philip any time she likes." He grinned happily. Molly wasn't so fond of his bike and bike rides. But she had been in an adventurous mood lately that he wanted to explore. "I'll take her," Sirius promised.

"If she isn't interested, I'll gladly take a ride on Philip," she told him with a brighter grin. She loved Philip and knowing that the bike was once again in proper hands, the hands of her father, had given her more joy than she expected. She thought back to many summer evenings where she would beg to hold on behind her father for a ride on the bike. Fond memories aside, she nodded her head. "Let me know how it goes," she added. She was just as curious about her Mother's turn in moods.

She reclined backwards and glanced off towards the horizon for a moment. "How far out have you gone?" She then inquired. She hadn't traveled very far. One of the things she was curious about was whether there was an end point. Were these worlds fully designed or did they eventually come to a halt? Like Truman and his ocean finally smacking against the edge of the set? She wanted to know but she had a feeling it wasn't going to be as easy a discovery. And admittedly, she had more pressing matters most of the time then exploration.

A brief reunion was better than none, and Sirius felt better even knowing Philip was around. Perhaps Oscar was looking after him. Sirius smiled at that thought. And well, Oscar had been the one to return Philip to him. Already Sirius had picked up someone on motorbike - Inked Moony - who had been stuck in their room (indoor blizzards were pretty cool sounding, to be honest). And there was so much more to do with his bike, including giving him a full few hours to make sure everything was in as good working order as when they had been separated. Then there would be even more time for riding around, taking people with him, including Astro. "You can get a ride with us either way," Sirius replied happily. He then wondered if she had a bike of her own. Her interests panned a slightly different direction, but still...

"I haven't gone terribly far," Sirius replied, "But it was something I wanted to explore. So I'm glad to have you with me." Company had always been part of the plan. And he had gotten better at driving the chariot. The horses weren't speeding like in a race because Sirius didn't want to tire them out. They were wonderful animals - Scotty and Data. Other worlds had involved limits of some kind, like the flower animal one where the compound was close no matter how far he walked. This place was a bit different, but how far?
