'It was a dark and stormy night; Meg Murry, her small brother Charles Wallace, and her mother had come down to the kitchen for a midnight snack when they were upset by the arrival of a most disturbing stranger.'
Viktor read the opening sentence of A Wrinkle in Time at a slow pace, stopping every few words to write down the ones he didn't know or that he had heard and at one time knew, but had yet to become quite ingrained in his memory. Those words just so happened to be 'midnight', 'upset', 'disturbing', and 'stranger'. Of course, some of the prepositions and the other smaller words through him for a loop and even knowing he knew what they meant, generally, the problem was they could be used for far too many things, and he didn't always quite get the phrasing. However, looking up these four words would probably help illuminate the whole sentence, so he just focused on those first. He looked them up in Luna's dictionary, which helped for most of them, but 'disturbing' he still had to whisper into the translator to see what it was in Bulgarian- 'непознат,' the voice answered in his head. Viktor scribbled the Bulgarian down next to the English word on his piece of paper and then slipped the translator pin back into his pocket.
Well, a disturbing stranger wasn't good, Viktor thought. Now he was wondering who this person was and why they came to Meg Murry's house. Viktor continued to read, sitting outside the compound as he waited for Filius, Luna, and the other kids, Albus and Toma. He decided it was too nice out to wait inside, and that it was probably better to use the time reading Luna's book. With his chin resting in his left hand, Viktor's eyes moved across the page of the book which was open in his lap, occasionally glancing over at the paper as he scribbled down two words he wasn't sure of in the next sentence.
