What is this shit: Erin and Owain ball 2.0! This time with less wacky misunderstandings! March 2024.
When everything came out about Erin and Owain having been one another's penpal all along, obviously the related revelation that was most pressing to them both was that they were in love with one another. That was sufficient to distract them both for quite a while, but then one day Erin had been reading over her penpal letters and had been reminded of the disastrous evening that had been the Halloween Ball. She didn't even have to ask to know that Owain had been held up by some unfortunate circumstance, likely due to his clumsiness, but she did anyway and found out it was a trick step. Seen from this side, the whole thing was quite funny, but Erin couldn't help but be a bit sad that she hadn't gotten to go to a ball with Owain as her date, since that had been their last one before they would graduate.
However, when they got to the chapter in Charms on atmospheric charms, Erin happened to glance out the window into the courtyard and get a marvellous idea. It had taken her a few weeks of reading extra books in the library and a lot of practise, but she had figured out how to give herself and Owain the lovely ball evening she'd wanted--perhaps even better because it would be just the two of them.
Erin had also decided that it ought to be a surprise, mostly because she didn't often do surprises and this seemed like as good of an opportunity as any. She just told Owain she had plans for them and that he ought to dress up and meet her in the entrance hall at eight, and refused to answer any other questions except with a mysterious smile. By the time the day rolled around, Erin was positively giddy with anticipation, and she ate dinner in record time before running back up to Ravenclaw to get ready. Now it was five minutes to eight and Erin was leaning against the Ravenclaw hourglass, playing with her ring and smiling to herself as she waited for Owain to come up from the dungeons.
