Emily smiled as Lysander talked some more about his tactics for staying awake. "And as soon as we get back here after work, you're going to fall asleep and completely ruin your sleep schedule, aren't you?" she said, raising her eyebrows at him.
Her mock-offence managed to hold out fairly well, at least until Lysander kissed her. "Never, that's rich," Emily said with a bit of a pout, pretending like that soft kiss hadn't made her smile involuntarily. "Maybe not anymore, but you did a good job of making me as miserable as possible for six years and sometimes I wonder if you've completely kicked the habit." The bit about people thinking her sweet made Emily laugh, though, and roll her eyes. "The day anyone thinks I'm a sweetheart will be a cold day in hell. Maybe you ought to be the one worrying, really, if you'll be all strung out on caffeine and no sleep. At least they'll all know you're the weird kid from day one..."
