Like Emily, it had taken Lysander a few days to grow comfortable with sharing a bed. Unlike his girlfriend, he was usually warm, and so he didn't mind at all that his secondary purpose was that of portable heater. The way Emily clung to his body more than made up for her fidgeting and kicking and the temporary shock he experienced whenever her cold skin touched upon his own in the middle of the night. It had just been a case of getting used to things.
That night, however, Lysander had found himself growing too hot. The evenings were already clammy, with the sticky, suffocating air lingering despite the changing seasons. It didn't help that he was nervous - just as Emily predicted - about the day ahead. In true Gryffindor fashion, he had decided as he lay awake and stared up at the ceiling to push the feeling away, for there was nothing to be worried about, not really. Yet no matter what he had said to himself, he simply hadn't been able to talk his body into relaxing. So he had carefully detached himself from Emily, leaning down to kiss her forehead tenderly before slipping out from under the covers, adjusting his pyjama pants to sit on his hips properly, and blindly feeling for his glasses. A week had been long enough for him to memorise the layout of their flat, and so he hadn't knocked into anything on the way to the bathroom, nor to the door to the closet after he had decided to do something productive with the time he refused to spend in bed fretting.
Time often ran away with Lysander when he was absorbed in work, and he was unsure just how long he had spent in the dark before a knock pulled him from his thoughts. Smiling slightly to himself as he looked back at the door, he called out "One minute!" before checking over his photographs. Making sure that they spent an adequate amount of time in the fixer fluid, he hung them to dry before clearing up and opening the door. It took his eyes a few moments to adjust to the altering light once he stepped back into the apartment, and he straightened his glasses before following his nose to the kitchen where his girlfriend and coffee awaited.
