Journal - Bloody cat!
How the shit did the cat get at my dress robes? They're in a fucking protective bag.

I'm warding the wardrobe.

Warded to Romilda:

Be glad we did your room. Echo apparently likes scratching fine fabric. Now I have to buy new fucking dress robes fast.

End ward

In other news I am in need of additional staff for Wingbeat. We lost a staff member this week due to unforseen rampant homophobia. There's some flexibility in position depending on experience. Cloakroom, bar, reception (taking entrance fees), and general run around are all possibilities.

Hours from: Wednesday afternoon up to 3 hours (for deliveries and/or training)

Thursday - Sunday: 9pm - 4am approx.

I'm happy to negotiate working days and shift patterns to suit.

How negotiable and/or flexible are the working days and shift patterns, because I may be interested.

I can be relatively flexible. Sort of depends what people need or want hours-wise and projected numbers. The days are fixed because of hour opening hours, but if you're unable to work all of them I can probably work something out.

If you could let me know your working preferences along with your experience and what position you'd prefer etc. via owl, or dropping them off when we're open I'll get back to you about how workable it would be.

I don't have access to an Owl at present and likely won't for another day or four. By then I'll be back in London and might as well just drop them off myself.

So in the interest of saving time; I'm in my last year of Cursebreaker Training and am looking for work 1-3 days a week between missions. I don't have any prior work experience from night clubs, however, I am good with numbers, Potions and people, physically fit, stronger than I look, and have a photographic memory I am a fast learner. I may not be the kind of witch you'd hire for reception (I'm not exactly imposing looking, though I can handle myself in both magical and physical altercation), but I will leave that decision up to you. Aside from that, I'd be interested in any of the positions you're mentioning - I suppose that would be the general run around, and if need be, I can throw in an offer of helping out with the books (I know they're a sore point for a lot of business owners).

Could any of that be of use or would it be a waste of your time if I dropped by with an offer like that?

Oh, in that case it's no problem to wait.

I'm familiar with the training, my brother is a trained Cursebreaker. Do you have a specific schedule for missions, or does it change month-to-month? How much advance notice of missions to you get? I disagree about reception, incidentally, I have separate individuals to guard the door, but a trained fighter taking the money as back up couldn't hurt. In principal I could work with your schedule assuming you know say a week in advance when you'll be in the country.

That said a second eye with the books could come in handy. Those I tend to do on a Wednesday. I'd be happy to pay you for that regardless if the other work is feasible.

Okay, I will stop by when I get back.

If your brother is Bill Weasley, Cursebreaker, then I have to say he's more than just a "trained Cursebreaker"

I don't have a specific schedule, no. Usually we are notified 1-3 weeks in advance, sometimes more, and unfortunately there are also emergencies sometimes, which is also why 1-3 or maybe just 2 days per week would be plenty for me. I do, however, make a point of notifying as soon as I possibly can.

I will stop by the club when I get back and we can get something arranged with the books, and see about other positions.

Thanks, but unless he gets sneaky I can handle it myself. I have some experience from the dragons and I don't need to work in the extra strong fire resistance for a cat!

Ooh did the keepers do the ward work themselves? Thats an interesting fact, what sorts did you favour?

And perhaps warding for dragons isn't the same as a curious, cute little cat who only wants to be well-dressed in your favourite dress robes?

No, not all of it, we had a couple of specialists that came in, but we all learned the upkeep and some basics because when dragons break through it tends to be a bit of a crisis moment. Didn't happen too often, but enough so I can keep up. Sadly I don't have my notes at the moment to know the specifics.

And no, it's not quite the same, I imagine, but I've got a good idea of how to block animals given that I have a door as a base. If it doesn't work I'll be sure to let you know.

Do you have an application? Or want info dropped off at the club?

No, no application forms. You can either owl or drop off your relevant experience and working availability FAO Charlie Weasley and I'll get back to you for interviews etc.

And that is why I prefer owls to cats.

If you need a new set, may I recommend Astoria Greengrass. She has an excellent eye for style and colour, and I wouldn't trust my work wardrobe to anyone else.

Unless you need a set sooner rather than later, in which case I can cast a sizing transfiguration for a short term fit on any of mine, should you need them.

I've been invited to a ball on the 15th, so I may need to borrow some of yours. Thanks for the recommendation though, I'll need to get new ones and see if anything can be done about the cat-attacked ones.

And Echo's fine, just likes my good robes apparently. And I like Nebula too, and a crapload of other animals too, but there's only so many I can keep in a shared flat.

A ball? What sort of ball? I am most intrigued. Let me know what day would be best for you and we can see which colours and cuts would suit you best. Quite interesting to see you wearing my robes and not the other way around.

I sense that Echo feels the same way you do about dressing in formal attire. If you had any more animals, their care would leave you with barely a moment left for Wingbeat.

Well, evening dance, at the Capper home. Same thing clothes-wise though. The invite wasn't all that specific. And Monday-Wednesday are my easiest days, otherwise we have to fit in between you finishing work and me starting.

I think Echo just likes the fancy fabric. Mostly he's pretty well behaved otherwise. If I had any more animals I think Romi'd make me move out.

If you come by Tuesday or Wednesday, you can spend time with your niece as she helps me dress up Uncle Charlie.

Well, if that ever happened, I should state now that I have no room for menageries, only stray brothers.

Oh, excellent news. Tuesday works for me, even if I do end up being a dress-up doll.

I can get my own place if that happens. But thanks for the sentiment.

All I'd need schedule-wise is the first weekend of the month (Friday-Sunday) off. Then I'll totally be yours.

I don't have a lot of club experience but I've been doing food and retail for almost ten years now, and I'm a quick learner. I work hard. My philosophy is "work as hard as you would if you were about to be replaced by a sixteen-year-old"

But the first-weekend-of-the-month thing is immovable. Sorry. Family stuff.

If you've got anything else you'd like me to consider let me know via note or owl FAO Charlie Weasley, but at present I believe I could make the staff rotas work with that schedule.

It looks like I have several candidate, non sixteen. And all my staff must be of age, so no sixteen-year-olds.

Cats can be crafty like that, and sometimes I swear they're immune to wards. My cat luckily doesn't scratch clothing much, but I have things for her to scratch all over the place.

I'll have to get some other things for him to scratch. Perhaps I should just give up on my robes and use them around a scratching post. It's only the bloody robes, not any of my jeans or anything like that.

I'll see how the wards go. We've managed to keep him out of Romilda's room, so I have hope.

We have scratching posts and catnip and such at the Bestiary. I also have some ward type things though a very determined cat can wear them out (Bast ignores them, but Bast is also well over twenty pounds, and I think that factors into it quite a bit).

There is hope. Mostly it's finding the right combination I suspect.

I should come grab some catnip, and possibly another scratching post or something. Although I hope he mellows out not speeds up after he has it. The mad five minutes thing is more than enough when it happens if I'm trying to sleep!

Luckily I adore the little bugger, so I'm happy to keep trying as long as it takes.

He'll probably go spastic initially and then shortly crash out a bit. It makes Bast more mellow the older she gets.

It is lucky we love them so much. Especially when they wake me in the middle of the night for no reason other than they had to run down the hallway and smash into my door.

Oh well, I can deal with a little while. It's pretty amusing from what I remember.

And yes, I've had the cannonball at the door experience too. At about 6.30 am, when I went to bed at 5. I was was really pissed off. Gave in and let him sleep on the other pillow after that.
