Who: Romeo and Stacey
What: Tattoo discussions
Where: Pinky's Ink, Monument Alley
When: Friday, October 3, mid-afternoon
Rating: NSFW - Language (because Stacey has a potty mouth)

"Shit, damn, fucking fuck!" Stacey exclaimed loudly just as the door chimed to announce someone entering the shop. With a sigh, she glared at the broken bottle of ink in the booth she'd been cleaning after an appointment, more irritated with herself at knocking it over than anything else. The floor was tile, so it was easy enough to get cleaned up again, but she usually wasn't so clumsy.

"Just a sec!" she called out, knowing that she should hope that she should care if a potential customer had heard her outburst but not quite finding the mental capacity for it. With a flick of her wand the broken glass was Banished and the tile was once again shiny white, and she took one last glance around the booth before stepping out towards the front desk.

"Sorry about that," she offered as she walked up, reaching up to pull her hair out of the ponytail she'd thrown it into before she'd started work on the last client. "How can I help you today?"

It had been very much a spur of the moment decision to get a tattoo. When he had said that he had always wanted one, it had been a white lie, intended to make himself seem more interesting and relatable to the beautiful Stacey.

Ah, Stacey. Even as he walked in the door and heard her cursing (the first time he had actually heard her voice, and she was cursing) he wasn't put off at all. He felt something for her, something strong, though he couldn't put his finger quite on what it was. He could be sure it wasn't sexual. He had deliberately pondered having sex with Stacey and found he couldn't quite bring himself to think beyond asking her if she would like to come up to his room. Potentially they were romantic feelings - he had had more luck imagining them curled up together watching a movie, or having dinner together...

But Stacey was aromantic, also. Romeo sighed again. If friends was all they could be, then he was determined to be the best friend he could possibly be, and that began with showing an interest in the things that were important to her. Hence his visit to her shop.

"Hello, Miss Rivers," he called cautiously. "It is me - Romeo. We have not officially met in person." And therefore, until they had done so, he didn't feel comfortable referring to her by her first name, not right to her face. "I came about the tattoo?"

"Hi Ro-Ro!" Stacey answered with an enthusiastic grin at the introduction, and then teased, "I know for a fact that I told you to call me Stacey."

She nodded before confirming, "The family tree, right?" She paused for a moment, absentmindedly playing with the ring on her right hand as she thought, explaining, "I know I brought that sketch with me, I'm just not sure where I left it. Hm. Give me a second, and I'm positive I can find it."

With that, she ducked behind the front desk, looking through the papers that had collected there, both things that were supposed to be and ones that weren't. She'd probably have to fix that at some point. "Didn't have too much trouble finding the place, did you?" she asked as she continued flipping through.

Romeo couldn't help grinning back at Stacey as he held out his hand to shake. Her enthusiasm was contagious - although he feared his grin was rather more infatuated than hers was.

"Eres aún más hermosa en persona," he murmured, unaware that it was loud enough for her to hear. Then he did his best to shake himself out of his little haze.

"No, the shop is easy enough to find," he said, taking a couple of steps to follow her. "And I would like to see your sketch. I have plenty of time, please don't fret." Oh, he was in trouble. He could just sense it.

Reaching out to shake his hand, Stacey was glad to see that he'd returned her smile - sometimes she was apparently a little too outgoing or excitable for new acquaintances.

"¡Gracias!" she answered his muttering with another grin, because even if she was completely ace didn't mean she didn't like compliments as much as the next person.

"Being right next door to the pub helps," she agreed, still absentmindedly flicking through a stack of papers. "Though it does tend to encourage people to try and come get tattooed when they're drunk, which is against my rules, but I figure if they don't come back once they're sober, they didn't really want the ink anyway."

There was a sense that Romeo could be great friends with this girl, and he had no shame in admitting it - or in acting like it right from the get-go. Even so, he blushed when he realized that she had heard his muttering and even answered him.

Romeo cocked his head slightly on an angle and considered Stacey's comment. "Is it something that happens often, people coming from the pub straight into here and wanting tattoos?" He'd never even considered that people would get intoxicated and make such a bad decision. "How about other states of... impairment, shall we say? Would you give a tattoo to a person who came in in a highly emotional state and demanded a tattoo?" The question had just popped into his head and he found himself genuinely interested in the answer - and in anything else she had to say.

"Sometimes," she answered with a small nod. "I lived in Las Vegas for a year, and I saw that happen all the time. Never seemed like it was a good idea, to let someone make that sort of decision when they weren't in full control of all their mental capacities." It had never sat well with her, seeing her colleagues inking people who may not have wanted the art in the normal state of mind, and once she'd established her own place, she'd come to the conclusion that she wouldn't allow for that.

Humming a little in thought at his question, Stacey answered, "It would depend. Probably not, though admittedly I have once tattooed a woman who was in tears after the funeral of her husband. She wanted a memorial of him, and I didn't turn her away. So I guess it would depend on the situation."

"Good point."

Romeo looked around himself, a little unsure how exactly this all worked. "So, you have the sketches, yes?" he said. Then he spied the sample books, and excitedly seized one, paging through it slowly as he moved to stand next to her, wanting her to share in his discovery (though he was aware she knew just what was in the books).

"So many designs," he marvelled. "I like this rabbit, and this one here, this angel? I love the way the wings sweep, so." He looked up at her, for a moment startled at their accidental proximity, then teasingly he put on an almost regretful face. "I fear, Miss Stacey, that I may not be able to stop with just one," he said in a serious tone, but his twinkling eyes gave away the joke.

Stacey giggled at Romeo's enthusiasm, glancing over his shoulder at the book he'd chosen. She'd done all the sketches, though some were old enough that she barely recalled them.

Grinning at his compliments, she laughed at his teasing tone, not at all bothered by the physical closeness. "That's how most people are," she commented, because she'd seen a number of individuals who were nervous about the first tattoo, and then just kept coming back for more ink. "I started thinking about by first tattoo when I was only seven."

"Right," Romeo said with a slightly awkward smile. It turned much more genuine when she mentioned having wanted a tattoo since she was seven. "I bet you were a very sweet seven year old," he said shyly. "But shall we, um, shall we talk about the tattoo I am going to get? Do you think we could get started today?"

As much as he had come up with the idea of getting a tattoo as an excuse to meet her, to be up close and personal with her, he really had warmed to the idea and he loved the thought of having his family tattooed on him, to be kept with him for the rest of his life.
