Rolf caressed her skin with gentle fingers. It was idle and exploratory, him simply wanting to touch the softness of her skin while they lay half awake in the early morning hours. The sense of peace he found here, of happiness, was immense. He knew how much he was going to miss her while she was away, though he was making an effort not to dwell too much on it.
He stirred slightly from his half-doze when she moved, his hand sliding over her and tucking himself just a little closer. His head tilted down to nuzzle her temple before pressing a kiss there. "Gonna miss you, Rosie," he whispered after a long moment. He knew she had to do her job and he would never stop that, but he was definitely going to miss her. A lot. He'd so quickly gotten used to seeing her pretty much everyday, something they'd already been migrating to before this addition, but also having her with jim at night when they went to sleep. It felt so right and natural, and even when they didn't precisely intend to spend the night they seemed to anyway, and he loved that too.
