Entry tags:character: george weasley, character: gregory goyle

Who: George and Greg (and possibly others?)
What: Open for busine
Where: WWW
When: Just after opening
Rating: SFW likely

It still felt odd to be opening the shop without a bubbly blonde or brunette flitting about in magenta robes and calling him "Mr. Weasley", but George was getting used to it. Getting used to the deeper voice, the taller figure, the less-than-graceful... Okay, well. To a bloke, working in the shop. Not that he had anything against blokes, quite the contrary, but he'd never hired one. Again, not that he had anything against them, but girls were more likely to answer the adverts...

He dropped coins into the till, counting in his head, then nodded and shut the drawer, tucking the ledger under the counter and waving his wand at the door. The sign flipped to read, "Open - if you dare", and began to sing in a very rusty sort of voice, advertising Wheezes to passers-by just in case anyone was new and didn't know what kinds of things WWW sold.

As if...

George pulled out a box of trick wands and set to adding labels, waiting for his shop-help to arrive, and for the day to begin.

It had taken Greg all of his first week to stop trying to apparate straight into the shop. He just expected to be able to apparate to where he wanted to go and making the mental adjustment had come slowly. Today, he'd woken up earlier than usual and decided just to walk. So he arrived at the front door, already unlocked, and pushed it open, wishing he could shut the singing up but glad it would be muffled by the door as soon as it closed.

"Morning." Greg wasn't a grumpy morning person, as some might expect, he was simply uncommunicative most of the time. He didn't give George time to answer before he made his way to the back to change into the magenta robes - no way he was walking down the street in them, so he changed at work. It only took a few moments and he was back, arms crossed across his chest. "Any special instructions today?"

"Morning..." George gave a vague wave with a rubber chicken - wand gone bad - as Greg passed through into the back to change, taking a second to charm it back into a wand before tossing it into the box with the others. "Not so much special, really, but we need to fit in about fifteen cases of stuff that I found in the basement yesterday. Can you work on kind of condensing some of the shelves? Free up some space? Need maybe five feet of shelves, floor to top, for some Halloween stuff. Sweets that turn you into your costume, instead of making you wear it. Well, for a couple hours, anyway." He gestured toward the shelves he'd been thinking of.

"And I've got a delivery that's supposed to be here about ten, some new stuff from Japan. Should make some kickass fireworks for New Year's..." He paused, thinking of sparklers and rockets for a moment, remembering how Fred had loved making things that exploded so much more than he had.

"How was the register yesterday? I forgot to ask. I explained again this morning that you really work here, but I'm not sure it's going to make a difference until payday. First-aid box is on my desk though, in case you get another bite..."

Greg nodded as he listened, absorbing George's instructions carefully so he wouldn't have to ask again. He might not be as lively as George's other shop assistants had been, but he could follow orders. Especially ones that would keep him away from customers. "I can do all that," he agreed, thinking that this would be a good chance to move the canary creams as he'd promised Percy without drawing too much attention to the fact.

He scowled as he looked over at the register, which was still snapping at him every chance it got. "Couldn't you pay me something now?" It didn't have to be all the wages he'd earned, just a token might do it. Though Greg wasn't at all convinced the cash register was ever going to recognise him. Still it was worth a shot.
