Ernie didn't question it, simply went along like he often did with Justin. He figured by now most of their friends saw them as two peas in a pod, not quite in the same way as he and Hannah were but in their own strange Ernie/Justin way. Anyway, Ernie followed until they were far from the noise of conversation and Ernie could hear his friend much better.
He shrugged, showing a rare moment of modesty and bashfulness when Justin thanked him. "Hey, it's the least you deserve. If we weren't working all week, I'd have rented out Finnigan's and had a party like you wouldn't imagine."
Something in the tone of Justin's voice had Ernie focusing completely on him, as if he was going to say something of utmost importance in Ernie's life. "Of course I know. You don't have to thank me - there's nothing else I've ever wanted to do than to be there for you, you know that."
