RP: A Day on the Town
Who: Roger and Marcus

What: Roger and Marcus' Excellent Adventure in Muggle London, with bonus pining. Seriously, so much pining.

Where: Starts at Roger's flat, then around London

When: Saturday 20th of September, 9am

Rating: NSFW - Language

Roger was not pacing. He was just moving around his flat in a repetitive and agitated manner. Appleby had lost their game last night, and he'd been pretty shattered - convinced that the loss had been his fault somehow. In order to cheer himself up, he'd decided to move forward on his plans to show Marcus around Muggle London. Mainly because he wanted to see Marcus, but also because he had a fairly good idea that the older man had wanted to drown himself after their loss.

So now he was dressed - in Muggle clothes - and was pacing around his apartment, waiting for Marcus to arrive. He had an excellent day planned for them, and now all he needed was for the man himself to arrive. He was just thinking of flinging himself onto the couch when there was a knock on the door. Grinning, Roger rushed down the hall, down the stairs, and opened the front door. "Hey you," he said with a massive grin.

Roger grinned at Marcus' shellshocked expression, and patted his shoulder. "It's not too bad, they have maps you can use to work out where you are," he said, reaching into his pocket and passing Marcus a standard tube map. "As long as you follow this it's not too bad. It's pretty ingenious, the things Muggles come up really."

Roger grinned beatifically, unaware of the tremendous power it had on his companion. "Exactly!"

He looked back to make a comment, just in time to see Marcus nearly cleaned up by a lorry. "Jesus," he shouted, grabbing Marcus by the arm and roughly pulling him close, wrapping an arm instinctively around him. "Are you alright? What were you thinking? What was I thinking?" He paused to take a shaky breath. "I should have warned you that there's cars on the road, they would rather hurt if they hit you." He looked intently at Marcus for a moment. "I'm glad you didn't - I wouldn't have been able to -" he took a breath and smiled, leading Marcus away past a group of wide eyed tourists. Unthinkingly, he kept his arm around Marcus' shoulder as he led him down a the street and towards the takeaway place. Once they'd picked up their orders he dropped his arm and grinned, hoping Marcus hadn't minded the physical contact. He led Marcus off into the maze that was Camden, keeping a close eye on him as they walked. "What do you think of Camden anyway?" Eventually he stopped in front of an old building and led the way inside. "Right, are you ready to get some ink then?"

From Roger's reaction, Marcus guessed that something very bad had almost happened, and through the rambling he supposed that yes, if the thing had actually hit him, it wouldn't have been a very pleasant experience. Feeling vaguely guilty about having worried the younger man, Marcus let Roger lead him through the crowd, trying not to read too much into his reaction. All the same, the physical contact was rather nice, even if it was born of something Marcus didn't quite understand.

Ignoring the sense of loss when Roger finally pulled away, Marcus nodded slightly as he answered, "It's very interesting. And confusing." But, really, those two words could really sum up all of his experiences with anything Muggle-related. He was still looking around and taking in all the sights to be had, albeit more carefully since he would rather this day didn't end with him in the hospital because of something like what had nearly happened with the 'car'.

Marcus took a deep breath as they stopped outside the building that was the tattoo parlor. The parchment with Bryony's drawing felt almost like a weight in his pocket, but he'd gone over this in his mind what felt like a million times, and every time he'd come to the same conclusion. "Yeah, I'm ready," he said, because he was, for both the tattoo itself and everything it signified.
