The whistle and the words brought a flush to Marcus' ears, and he ran a hand through his hair self-consciously at the compliment. "Thanks?" he said, because it was polite, though it came out sounding a lot like a question. He was never sure what to make of Roger's comments like that, if he meant them the way Marcus would have liked, or if that was just the way the younger man talked to everyone.
Following Roger as he led the way, Marcus took the small object that was handed to him, looking at it dubiously for a moment before placing it in his pocket. As was pretty standard when talking to Roger, he only understood about half of what the man said, but he nevertheless nodded and smiled as he said, "Of the two of us, you're the only one who knows what you're doing, so lead the way."
He was a little taken aback by the revelation that Roger was planning to get a tattoo, but ever since he'd come to the conclusion that he did want to go ahead and get the Mark covered up, Marcus had been carrying around Bryony's sketch practically everywhere he went. "Yeah, actually," he answered with another nod, and then a small, self-conscious shrug of his shoulders. "Ever since you suggested it... Well, let's just say I've put a lot of thought into the subject."
