When she reached for him he couldn't help the way his head leaned into her touch. Her concern for him felt warm and he smiled a little bit hoping he wasn't about to ruin anything that they had built as friends over the last couple of years.
"I feel warm," he replied, "I feel warm and stupid and like I'm about to do something terrifying but what kept me up all night was wanting to do this," he said the last bit in a rush and then pulled his face from her hand and leaned down again, this time brushing his lips against hers. Just for a fleeting moment but his heart race jumped immeasurably and when he stepped back he almost couldn't look at her for fear of what he might see.
