As had been proved to her Monday evening, going a week without Adrian just wasn’t working for either of them, even if Monday evening also had proven to Alicia that anything that had happened on their night out the week before, shouldn’t be repeated. At least not if Adrian’s reaction was anything to go by. It was a bit of a bitter pill to swallow, but since he appeared fine with them being Just Friends, then she would rather settle for that than risk losing him altogether, just because she had finally realised how much she wanted him in her life.
So, Alicia had done what any sane witch in her situation would do: she had thrown herself into work. Yesterday, she had gone through the charts of every single Pride player to make sure that they were up to date with their current condition, diet and Potion list, even going so far as to calling in every player with just a scratch on their bodies to ensure that they would be in physical top shape for the match in Ballycastle this coming Thursday. Today, after she had finished the Potions administrations at the Pitch in Portree, she had dived right into the parchments that had piled up in her office since the weekend.
She was just finishing an Owl to the grandparents of a boy a year or so older than the twins with a list of primary schools in their area that employed parents of Muggleborns when there was a knock on the door. “It’s open! Come one in,” she called, signing her name before she looked up to see Adrian opening the door.
“Since when do you knock?” she asked, genuinely happy to see him again, even when she noticed the tired look in his eyes. “Did you work all night again?” Concern for his wellbeing mixing with her joy of seeing him had her out of her chair to get a closer look, just to make sure that it was just lack of sleep and not anything more serious.
