A Different Kind of Wizard
Who: Luna and Dominic
What: Going to a film
Where: Prince Charles Cinema, London
When: Thursday 27th August
Rating: SFW

The Prince Charles Cinema was one of Dominic's favourite places in London. They showed cult movies, classic movies, movie marathons and Dominic had found that the atmosphere was really friendly. He was pretty sure Luna was going to love it, and even if the muggle patrons found her a little odd, they probably wouldn't care. The showing of The Wizard of Oz wasn't until seven, so Dominic had arranged to take Luna out to eat as well.

After their meal but before they reached the cinema, Dominic stopped and directed Luna over to a bench. "I brought you something," he said. He knew the red sequin shoes weren't going to mean anything to Luna now, before she'd seen the movie, but he thought she'd get a kick out of it when she did realise what he'd done, and no one at the venue would find it at all odd. He pulled the shoes out of his bag, wrapped in a muggle carrier bag, and handed them to her.

It was so nice of Dominic to invite her out to watch a movie at the cinema. She'd been looking forward to it ever since he had brought it up. She didn't exactly get to go all that often (surprise to no one) but she really enjoyed it when she went. This would turn out to be no exception to the rule. Sure she was dressed oddly and looked quite out of place as a tourist.. with the same kind of accent as the rest of the muggles, but hey at least she was enjoying herself. And didn't seem to pay any attention to the fact that people were probably giving her weird looks.

The food was good, and the company was even better. She was lead over to the bench, eyebrows raised in curiosity. Were they supposed to bring presents? Luna hadn't realized that had been the case. She took the bag and ruffled through it until she pulled out.. shoes? Wow. Sparkly red shoes.

"Oh my goodness. These are very sparkly and red. I love them." She beamed. Oh she hoped they fit right. Immediately she started to take off her own shoes and put these ones on. It was certainly an odd present to get someone but... "Did you think the sparkles were very Luna-esque?"

Dominic smiled, pleased that Luna was pleased. If they hadn't fit, Dominic had been prepared to very quick, very discreet spellwork to make it happen. By the look of things, though, that wasn't necessary. "I think the sparkles will suit you," he agreed. "I admit, they're red for a specific reason - you'll see why later. If I were just looking for shoes for you I think I'd have gone with gold or silver. Or multicolour." There were a lot of colours which Dominic could associate with Luna - but red wasn't really one of them.

He stood once more, offering her a hand - not that she'd really need it to get up. It wasn't as if he'd bought her towering heels. "Do they fit okay?" he asked. "Can you walk comfortably?" They still had a little way to go.

"Oh? Well I can't wait to see what the reason is," she said excitedly. She really was looking forward to whatever the red shoes were about. The sparkles did suit her though, they showed off her inner personality. "Oh I like multicolour.. but I do like gold and silver.." she paused and then laughed. "I like all the colors, I guess." Maybe red wasn't really her color, but she could pull off the red shoes.

The shoes slipped on, and they were fit nearly okay. "Um.. they're maybe a little loose. They could be tightened up a bit. But we can wait until we're alone." That way no muggles saw them using magic. "I can manage. Usually I walk barefoot everywhere." And this was nothing compared to that.

"I'd expect nothing less," Dominic admitted. "I like most of the colours myself sure enough." He certainly used most of them in his various projects and jobs. The shoes caught the light as Luna moved, but no one seemed particularly to notice.

He began to lead the way to the cinema, keeping his pace a little slower than usual so that Luna wouldn't have to rush in too-loose shoes. He smiled to himself, thinking about the movie - particularly about that moment when the black-and-white footage transformed itself into technicolour for the arrival in Oz. He had a feeling Luna was going to appreciate that - and maybe Dominic could play that up a little. "This is quite an old film," he said. "So there probably won't be a lot of technology you're not familiar with."

Luna laughed a little, and blushed slightly. Okay maybe she was slightly eccentric about most things, colours included. But at least he wasn't making fun of her for all of the things that she loved. It was a really really long list. "I'm glad that I'm not alone in that," she told him with a smile.

She followed along side him, her eyes mostly on her shoes but at least she wasn't bumping into people and running into things. And it helped that they were going fairly slowly. At least she was paying a little bit of attention to where she was going. She wouldn't make Dominic pull her out of the way at the last second. Hopefully. "Oh I love old things, that's good to know. I'm really excited to see this movie."
