Who: Blaise Zabini - stand alone
What: He's found a letter
Where: His room at Zabini Manor
When: Friday evening
Rating: Angst and feels, abandonment issues, violent temper

Blaise turned the letter over and over in his hands. Mother had asked him to store some thing away in her vault and as he'd done so he'd knocked a old Selwyn family tome from the shelf. It made absolutely no sense to him why the book was locked away but as he'd picked it up and envelope fell out with the words For My Son written plainly on the front. It wasn't his mother's writing so he assumed it must have been from Vincent. The thing that confused him though was that it had been hidden away rather than given to him at some point in time. Did his mother even know it was there?

He'd been holding onto it since Wednesday morning and this had been the first chance he'd had to read it. Wanting to do so where his memories of the man stood the clearest, Blaise had gone home, not to his flat, but his childhood home. To the place where he would eventually raise his own family. Taking a deep breath he carefully opened the yellowed envelope and took out the stiff piece of parchment.

My oldest son,

You are my only regret in life. Not because you exist but because I will never know you. Please understand that this choice is not completely mine to make and I do sincerely hope Michalea will find a man who will stand worthy enough in her eyes to be your father. Every boy should have a father that loves him and can protect him.

In a way I suppose that is what I did when I left. Unwittingly I was protecting you. Your mother is a strong woman and she desires power and status that I cannot give her. She believes in the supremacy of a world that I cannot fully embrace no matter how I try. I will not be a puppet to a master that cares for nothing but his own warped beliefs even if it will cost me my life. It is my hope that my death when it comes will help to end this war so that my sons will not have to.

Yes, my son you read that correctly. I have two boys. Two boys that come from strong women on opposite sides of the world. Two boys whom I long will be able to find one another one day. That will stand side by side in a world united instead of at the ends of deadly wands pointed at one another.

I do not know you my son, but I do love you. Become a man I would have been proud to call my son.

There was no signature. Nothing to identify this man who claimed to be his real father. He read it again and again. Each time different pieces of the puzzle sinking in. His mother never told his real father she was pregnant. He hadn't been a Death Eater who'd died bravely. By his mother's standards the man would have been labeled a coward. His father had seen him from afar and hadn't cared enough to fight to hold him. He had a brother that couldn't be more than two years younger than him. He had a brother who had been held by their father and loved while he'd been abandoned.

As the thoughts ran through his head the parchment slipped from his hands onto the floor just in time to keep his fists from clenching and tearing it. Instead he stood and paced trying to fight the tears that came no matter how hard he tried to hold them back. Thankfully he was alone in the house so no one heard his screams of frustration or the crashes as he flipped over the things he could and punched holes into the items he couldn't.
