"Rich, please," he replied with a slight smile. "Well enough, given this sad occasion."

Bloody hell, he never knew what to say at things like this so he wouldn't come across the complete tosser. This wasn't one of those times he'd planted the guest of honor himself. Or been glad they we're dead. Or even really known the deceased at all. All-in-all, it sucked to be there.

"Hope you've been well yourself. Afraid I've been a bit too busy for most of the social scene this year."
