Bryony took a breath and shrugged. "I think he just needs sleep right now," she hedged. Marcus had said he'd be busy with the funeral arrangements and clearing out the Manor. He hadn't wanted to disappear, but he hadn't given Bryony the impression that he was desperate to see Roger just now either. And she really had Marcus's best interests at heart.
"It's... complicated," she admitted. "And it's not really my place." She wouldn't dream of sharing things Marcus hadn't yet found a way to tell Roger - even if she thought it might make things simpler all round. "I don't know that there's anything to do, except give him time."
