RP: Morning is a relative term
Who: Charlie Weasley, Stacey Rivers
What: Accidental 'breakfast' meeting
Where: Sweet Nothings
When: Wednesday 22nd July, what normal people call lunchtime
Rating: NSFW - language

Charlie had woken up with a start when the little menace, also known as Echo had decided that he had slept long enough and given up the comfortable position on top of his head which Charlie had learned to deal with via walking, claws out, over his face. It was effective, oddly enough and Charlie had awoken with a start and a yelp. Admittedly given that it was almost noon it wasn't that early for him to be waking up, especially for day where he hadn't worked the night before, but still it had been a rude awakening.

He'd shuffled and hopped himself through his morning routine easily enough. Slightly grumpy until he'd had any coffee as was normal. Feeding Echo and leaving some water for Nebula who was fast asleep on her perch. He'd had a quick shower and decided that he really didn't want porridge for breakfast and even though he'd been shopping the day before there was nothing else in the cupboard that he fancied eating before he headed for his office, so he'd given in and finished dressing and headed to Sweet Nothings for a pastry and his second coffee of the day.

The smell of the shop full of cake and coffee was always enticing, but he usually managed to resist the temptation to turn in even when he walked part of the way to Wingbeat, but today he was thankful to push the door open and inhale sweet buttery cake and fruit and rich dark coffee. He wavered for a few seconds before ordering a large coffee with milk and an almond pain au chocolat. I he was going to have cake he might as well go all the way. It wasn't that he didn't keep active enough to justify eating cake, but most of the time it was more of an indulgence than he bothered with.

It took little time for his order to arrive and he was just stepping over to one of the little tables to sit and eat and continue to come alive.

Still ongoing!

Stacey was one of those strange people who was both a night owl and a morning bird. She enjoyed staying up until all hours, but also had no trouble waking with dawn and being obnoxiously happy even at all sorts of ungodly hours early in the day. Wednesdays in general were met with a little less excitement, being the start of her work week, but not much less. After all, she was living a dream come true when it came to her parlor, and she didn't mind spending a good portion of her time there.

This morning she'd tried to play with the cats for a while while making herself breakfast, though Merry had seemed more interested in stealing her toast than anything else, while Pippin had just wanted to lay in the patch of sun on the counter. Giving it up as a lost cause when he succeeded in dragging the bread to the floor, she slipped on a pair of sandals and left, figuring she could stop and pick something up to eat along the way.

Stepping into Sweet Nothings always made Stacey smile - the smells of everything were so similar to her mother's bakery that she had a lot of fond scent memories that never ceased to make her day better every time. And of course, there was the promise of something delicious in the very near future as well. Once she'd obtained her chocolate croissant and coffee, she turned to head back outside and open the shop - she was already a little late on that, but she wasn't particularly concerned as it was rare to have customers this early in the day without an appointment - but as she did so, she spotted Charlie at one of the tables. Making her way over, she greeted him with a bright smile as she said, "Good morning, sunshine!"

Charlie hadn't spotted Stacey, mostly because he was more concerned with trying to get more coffee into his system by inhaling the steam before it cooled down enough to drink. And eating a couple of bites of flaky pastry. He looked up at her with the slightly dozy look of someone who wasn't quite awake yet and gave her a smile that was half-grimace. "Pretty sure it's technically afternoon by now," he said, and gestured at the other seat at the table, inviting her to sit.

Tearing off another piece of chocolatey pastry and held it between his fingers while he spoke. "So, how're you?" he asked, and shoved the food into his mouth. At least there was a hit of fat and sugar going on from the food, because he was definitely coming up short on the caffeine front right now.

"Maybe for the rest of the world," Stacey answered with a shrug and a smirk. "Not for people like me and you." She grinned at him as she plopped down into the offered chair, dropping her bag to the floor next to her. Taking a sip of her own coffee, she made a small, happy sound before saying, "I'm wonderful. I don't need to do the books until next week, so the only paperwork I have in my near future is a date with my sketchbook." She paused for a bit of her breakfast and then asked teasingly, "And yourself? Not quite as perky as I am, I can see."

"True enough," he said and tentatively sipped his coffee, which proved a little bit too hot for him to manage. He wrinkled his nose and tried to surreptitiously breathe over his tongue a little to soothe it. "It's only really a problem when someone invites me for lunch, which is usually Mum to be honest and I wind up having Sunday roast for breakfast which is just fucking odd." Not that he was really complaining since his Mum's cooking was always excellent, but it was always a bit weird to him.

He made a face again when Stacey said she didn't have to do the books this week. "Lucky you. I have books to do and a delivery to supervise," he said grumpily. "And, I am not a morning person. Need to get coffee in me first," he said. "Oh, and I got woken up by my cat walking across my face today, so that wasn't the best start."

Stacey made a small face at the idea of roast first thing after waking up. "Not really a breakfast food," she commented, because she certainly didn't want her expression to be interpreted as an insult or anything along those lines. "My mother has finally learned not to call me before noon. Mostly because I won't answer, and then she gets worried and keeping calling till I pick up, which usually ends in screaming matches in Spanish," she shrugged as she responded.

"Coffee is an essential at the start of the day," she agreed with a nod. She stuck her tongue out at Charlie before grinning at him. "I've found its best and easiest if I only do it once a month to stop me from confusing myself," she confided. "But deliveries are no fun. And I only get so much, because ink and needles and gloves are only so big. I can't even imagine what you have to go through." Stacey couldn't stop a chuckle from escaping her at his mention of how he'd been woken up. "Sorry. It's just that I'm here for breakfast because one of ours decided he was going to steal my toast today and this was easier than fighting with him anymore."

"No, it's not, but Mum's cooking is amazing, so I'm not usually bitching too much. Plus I usually get up early enough to have some coffee first," he said. It was always a bit of a struggle though considering the time he usually managed to get to bed. It was the sort of day he occasionally wound up having to have a nap somewhere along the way. "I don't get yelled at so much thankfully." His family had definitely realised that getting to do anything before midday was a losing prospect these days.

He made another face when she said she only did the books once a month. "I have to do stuff every week to make sure I'm on top of orders," he said. "But I have someone come and make sure I'm getting the books right at least once a month. The deliveries I at least get help with," he said and slurped his coffee. It was just about cool enough and he relaxed slightly, even if he had to sip a little noisily. Even though he'd been a bit put out when she started to laugh the explanation made him smile. "Sounds like something mine could do too," he chuckled. "Thankfully he just decided to claw my face not throw my food around. Which shows where my priorities are," he said.
