"Yes!" Sophie answered, explaining primly, "Aunt Maddie gave them to me." She waved her small arms around, causing the balloons in question to sway above her head. "Are you here for the parade too? I got a new dress just for today! Aunt Maddie gave it to me too, 'cause it's fes.. fet... festive!"
Taking the small break as a moment to reapply the reacquired sunblock, Bryce managed get a some onto his fingers without his daughter noticing. She hated the feeling of it being applied, so he'd learned that the best way to get it onto her skin was by surprising her with it so she didn't have time to squirm away. Grabbing her by the wrist that didn't have the balloons attached, he slathered the lotion across her forehead, ignoring the whine of "Daaaddy!" that this brought about.
"Almost done, princess," he told her, slightly distracted as he made sure to cover her face and shoulders. A few moments later, he stated, "See, all done." Sophie pouted at him slightly, but since his mission had been accomplished, he just smiled at her and ruffled her curls before sliding the bottle into his backpack.
"Thank you, again," Bryce said to the woman as he stood back up, offering her a smile along with the words.
