Pride Friday: OPEN
Who: Charlie, and OPEN for multiple threads
What: Wingbeat for Pride weekend
Where: Wingbeat
When: Friday 3rd July
Rating: NSFW probably

Wingbeat was already getting busy for the evening, and with both floors having undergone the same makeover there were assorted pride flags and banners stuck to the walls. A couple had stray political-type messages were on them, but mostly there were just rainbow-themed decorations. Because Charlie was Charlie there were also an assortment of pride flags, not just the rainbows most people were familiar with. He'd also made a point of getting bi, ace, pan, and trans pride flags. There were far less of them than the generic flags but he'd had compliments passed on to him from the staff from a few people, and someone had actually said to him it was good to see, completely unaware he was the owner. That had made him smile.

There was also glitter everywhere, very little of which had been provided by Wingbeat, well, outside of the sparkling fairy dust wands, and that glitter dissipated. They'd cleared up the previous night but it had all appeared again. Both floors were pounding to the beat of his two favourite DJs playing a mix of mostly upbeat music from both the magical and muggle world. There was quite the emphasis on Pride-type songs and known LGBTQ+ artists, but pretty much anything upbeat was happening.

As with the previous night he'd spotted a few people wincing at the noise as they entered downstairs and ducking quickly into the sound-dampened area with a look of relief.

Both bars were doing a pretty brisk trade in some of the cocktails and shots Charlie, Dominic and Genie had tried out. All the cocktails for the evening were rimmed with rainbow sprinkles and came with fairy dust 'wands' that meant there were sparkling drinks everywhere. Although a few people had just got rid of the extras right away or requested not to have them. Plus of course there was the usual trade in flirting via drinks with incredibly rude names, or dares to try and make the bar staff blush. Sadly for the punters most of them were now pretty immune, although there were one or two Charlie tended to have a reaction to.

Roger was completely energised. He'd been to London Pride with his boyfriend, and they'd had an awesome time. He'd spent a lot of the parade explaining things to Marcus, something that had gotten them a lot of fond looks and encouraging smiles from the couples around them. Of course, this fact had probably been helped along by the fact that they'd both been wearing rainbow-coloured vests that had rather spectacularly shown off their hard-earned Quidditch playing arms - another thing that had made Roger proud.

As they walked through the crowds, Marcus nonchalantly took Roger's hand in his own. Roger grinned and looked down at their hands, and tried not to grin too much. Even after months, the simple gesture of trust and intimacy still sent chills through Roger's spine. "So what," he asked laconically, leading the way towards the bar to order something obscenely sweet and questionably rainbow coloured. "Do you want to drink tonight or are you happy to just let me?"

Jinx I can't remember if we agreed on Marcus wearing the singlet so I put it in, let me know and I'll change it if needs be?

There were plenty of thing that Marcus still didn't understand, but knowing that Roger could and would explain those made his own ignorance a little more bearable. He had thrown on one of Roger's button down shirts to cover the scars on his bicep, but he still felt rather exposed in Muggle clothing. It wasn't uncomfortable, per se, just a little strange, and there were plenty of people in the crowd around them showing even more skin, so he didn't feel spectacularly out of place.

"Go right ahead," he answered as they walked. "I don't drink, so I can get us home without worrying about you Splinching yourself." While he would have a beer or two on occasion, Marcus almost never drank alcohol in concentrated doses - there were too many bad memories tied up in the sensation for him to enjoy being drunk. "Why is there so much glitter everywhere?" he asked as an afterthought, when yet another shimmer caught his attention out of the corner of his eye.

"I know, I know," Roger replied with a smile. "I just didn't want to assume on the one single night you'd decide to start drinking for some ungodly reason, and then where would be huh? Walking home and probably detouring into an alleyway for me to blow you." He paused for a second to order a one of the glittery concoctions on offer and then looked back at his lover. "I think because it's flashy, and pretty, and kind of a little too much and that's basically a perfect analogy for pride."

Drink in hand, he led Marcus over to a little booth and pushed him down onto the seat before sitting down almost on top of him. "Hi," he said with a sly smile, leaning forward to kiss the other man on the side of the neck.

Marcus could feel himself blushing at the comment, shaking his head slightly and hoping that the dimmer lights of the club would cover his reaction. "Not tonight," he said with a small smile, trying to match Roger's light tone. He order a beer for himself and paid for both of them, refocusing his attention on the other man when he answered the question that hadn't been completely serious in the first place.

Chucking at the words, he followed without any protest, settling into the booth with small smile. He tentatively wrapped an arm around Roger's waist, feeling something that was almost a shiver go down his spine at the contact of his boyfriend's mouth on his neck. He ducked his own head slightly, briefly hiding his face in Roger's hair before looking out at the crowd of bodies on the dance floor. "I have no idea how that is considered dancing," he commented quietly, because it was nothing like the waltzes and those sorts things he'd grown up with.

"Come on grandpa, where's your sense of adventure," Roger despaired with a pout - although he hadn't been at all serious. He leant forward and kissed Marcus lightly on the jaw to show that he actually wasn't annoyed, and then turned around to take his gloriously ridiculous drink from the bartender.

He felt Marcus wrap his arm around him and shiver slightly, and for a moment Roger felt a wild thrill in that, in the ability to bring this amazing and complicated man to his knees. It was beautiful having someone feel so strongly about you when you felt as strongly for them. He laughed huskily at Roger's comment and kissed him slowly on the lips. "It's not a waltz, but it's still about moving your body and having fun. Do you want to come out on the dance floor with me? I can show you some moves."

"I save it for the Quidditch pitch," Marcus answered, his tone a little flat but hopefully not enough to draw attention to the deflection. It wasn't a topic he particularly felt like discussing, especially not on a night like tonight, which was supposed to be enjoyable and not tinged with remnants of his own ugly history.

As it almost always did, the sound of Roger's laugh brought a small smile to Marcus' face before the expression was gone in deference to being able to kiss the younger man back. "I don't know," Marcus answered, unsure. "I'm not sure how well that will go, for either of us."
