Birthday Bash
Who: Seamus and open for multiple threads
What: Seamus's birthday
Where: The Roost
When: Saturday 27th / Sunday 28th June [foredated]
Rating: SFW for now?

Seamus had debated over the theme of his birthday for hours. He'd known that he wanted ice cream, but none of his own decor ideas had been inspiring. Dominic had suggested a camping theme, which Seamus had been enthusiastic about for all of ten seconds before realising how much Dean would hate it. Eventually, he'd settled on a sort of park feel. Where better to eat ice cream, after all?

One wall held the table, magically chilled, with all the flavours of ice cream, the cones and the cups, the sprinkles and sauces. Dominic had fashioned wooden screens that looked like muggle ice cream vans to attach to it, and all four walls were grass-green and sky-blue. The rest of the room was slightly too-crowded with park amusements. A see-saw, a set of swings, a family-size swing, even a sandbox in a nod to Dean's last birthday. The ground didn't quite feel like real grass but it was close enough, and the air smelled like summer.

Come midnight, the larger accessories would disappear, leaving the room empty for people to spread blankets and sleeping bags and cushions over. Seamus was expecting at least his closest friends to stay the night.

Ginny & Open

Ginny arrived with her knapsack full of Seamus' gifts and then her bedroll tightly tucked under her arm. She wore comfortable muggle track pants and a plain grey t-shirt, figuring that if she did decide to stay over, she'd be comfortable enough slipping off her sandals and cozying up in a corner as is.

She gently set her bag gown next to her blanket and made sure there was a cushioning charm surrounding it just in case. There were a variety of potions inside - hang over solutions, pepper-up potion, hair product - some of what she knew were Seamus' favorites of Pucey's selection.

"Ginny!" Seamus called from some distance away. "Oi! Over here." He weaved past the swings, careful not to get in the way of their trajectory, then made his way to her side. In one hand he had a cone with bright-yellow pineapple ice cream and white coconut-flavoured sprinkles so he wrapped the other arm around Ginny's waist and aimed a kiss at her cheek.

"So what do you reckon?" he asked, gesturing with his free arm to the surroundings. Then he turned his head and squinted at her. "Did you even have this stuff growing up?" Though his mam was a witch, Seamus was familiar with a lot of muggle things - especially childhood ones. Ginny, on the other hand, had grown up far from muggle communities.

Ginny returned Seamus' half hug with a kiss on his cheek as well, "It's brilliant! I mean, we had ice cream growing up..." she indicated his and laughed, "It's not like I grew up on Mars, but..." She looked around, "Yeah, the rest of this wasn't exactly a Day in the Life at the Burrow." She'd grown up tossing gnomes with her brothers and reading stories about Harry Potter, not hanging out at the local playset.

"Did you do all of this?" It was his birthday after all, he shouldn't have needed to do all the work for it.

"Then you should come sit on the see-saw with me," Seamus declared, determined to rectify this deficit in Ginny's upbringing. "It's fun. Do you want ice cream before, during, after or all of the above?" He let his eyes wander the room, watching Viktor and Melinda make themselves comfortable in the sandbox, Susan and Dean on the swings. He smiled softly and slung an arm around Ginny's shoulders (she was one of few friends he could actually do that to, given his height). After the war, and the reminder of Victis Honor day, really all Seamus wanted was for his friends to be happy, and safe, and together on his birthday.

He shook his head in response to her question. "Dominic did most of it. Though I organised the ice cream and supplies."

"All of the above, of course," Ginny gave him a look that said duh. "Well, let's go enjoy all your hard work and tackle some frozen perfection?" She asked, grinning as she headed in that direction. She had her eyes on the chocolate. Once she had her cone and his was re-stocked, they headed to the see-saw which she eyed skeptically.

"Is this going to hurt?" She asked, her eyebrows disappearing up into her hairline.

Seamus looked at her, a little aghast. He still couldn't get used to the idea of a childhood without such basic, commonplace things. Even though his mam was a witch, and a witch from a wizarding family at that, he'd still been taken to playgrounds and football games and (very rarely) the beach. "Course it's not going to hurt," he said. "Not unless you think I weigh as much as Slughorn." He patted his flattish-stomach for emphasis. "And I haven't eaten that much ice cream, come on." He reached out to steady the see-saw, keeping it level. "We need to get on at the same time."

Once they were both safely on the see-saw, Seamus pushed up off the ground gently, sending Ginny's side of the see-saw groundwards at a relatively slow pace to begin with. "Now you push up," he explained, tightening his one free hand around the handle. "Sometimes, I think I should organise some kind of... exchange programme, where me and Dean and Harry take you and Ron and the rest on a tour of all the stuff you don't have a clue about."
