RP: Father's Day at the Burrow
Who: The Weasleys (plus-ones welcome, of course)
What: Celebrating Arthur!
Where: The Burrow
When: Sunday the 21st
Rating: SFW

Ginny wore her father's favorite purple jumper and plani muggle jeans as she floo'd from the new flat in London back to her childhood home. She expected there to be much horseplay - as usual when around her brothers - so she'd even done her hair in a braid. If you asked her, it made her look too much like a fifteen year old girl in school all over again (then again when she'd been fifteen she'd been leading a dangerous and violent rebellion, so maybe not).

She hadn't bothered with with the usual flowers or bottle of alcohol for Arthur, instead she'd popped into a muggle electronics store while out shopping with her Mum the day before (thank goodness Gringotts did muggle currency exchange!) and had picked him up different lengths widths of wire, as well as a host of muggle hand tools that the confused teller assure her were for use with electronic projects. She thought he might love them though Molly had complained that they didn't need anything more overflowing in the house, even if all the kids were moving on.

Family holidays - even after years - were still a little quieter than they had been before the war, with Fred gone. And Ginny knew she'd steal away at one point or another to cry a little bit to herself (as she knew her mother would, too, and maybe Arthur as well - maybe they even did that together), so she had to take a breath and steady herself once she'd landed before brushing the soot off of her and straightening her plait of hair and calling out to her parents that she was home.

"Hey trouble," Charlie said from the comfy chair near the fireplace that he'd been sitting in after Mum had shooed him out of the kitchen. He'd already been to visit his Dad in the shed and dropped off his present (assorted muggle bits and pieces and a some fancy tea) and a card. "Dad's in the shed, Mum's in the kitchen, not sure where anyone else is. I got turfed out of both," he said, pointing to the large glass of pumpkin juice he was holding.

"So, how's the new flat doing? Enjoying being free?" he asked.

"Of course they are, and of course you have been." Ginny smiled to see her oldest brother, there was something oddly calming about Charlie. Growing up he'd been the adventurous and mysterious one, but since the war he'd been an anchor for her. It was funny how things had changed. And by 'funny', Gin thought to herself, she meant not funny at all.

She leaned down to where he sat to give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "It's weird to be 'visiting' here," she admitted, "but the flat's good. I never thought I'd be looking forward to one of Mum's big meals, but even I can only eat so much of Seamus' take away, it turns out," she laughed. "I'm going to pop round and say hi, I'll be back," she said, leaving the room to say hello to her parents and leave her father's gift on the table.

After giving each a hug and kiss in greeting, and being immediately kicked out of their space as Charlie had, she returned to him. "So how are you, brother?"

"I tried to offer to help, but you know Mum," he said with a shrug. He had also tried to steal food, but that had never gone well. They'd get called in when it was time for setting the table. Actually since Molly had a tendency to fuss and worry still Charlie probably wouldn't be called in until food was about to go on the table.

He returned Ginny's hug warmly. "Yeah, that only got odd after I moved out post-leg. It was pretty fucking obvious I'd moved out when I was in Romania and there were non-Hogwarts mountains out of the bloody window!" He swigged his juice and grinned. "You've gotta learn something, I mean you can always come over to mine and I can show you some basics, or convince Mum you need to fend for yourself," he said. "Sure, sure," he said, waving her off and going back to just listening to the noises of his childhood home, still slightly fuzzy and sleepy around the edges.

"Kinda sleepy, but, you know, not bad. Busy," he said, stifling a bit of a yawn part way through. "I didn't wake up with Echo on my head, so that's a damn decent start."
