Travel
I haven't been travelling in far too long and all these photos from people's holidays are reminding me why I loved it in the first place. I've got a real urge to take off and go camel trekking in Morocco or whitewater rafting in Transylvania or mountain biking in Costa Rica or zip-wiring in Guatemala.

It'd have to be after Seamus's birthday (yes, idiot, I've remembered and I assume you're planning something). Sometime in August? Or maybe September, just after schools have gone back so I can miss peak tourist season. Either way, until I book something I'll be taking suggestions for awesome places to go.

Are there magical adventure holidays? Can I go clabbert watching in the US? Are there Erumpent safaris? Do they offer flying-carpet tours of Dubai or Iran? Why isn't there a magical travel agent on Diagon Alley. Those of you who grew up in the magical world, what's the best holiday you remember taking? (Actually, those with muggle childhoods feel free to answer anyway, you might give me some ideas.)

[Warded to Genie and Charlie]
If we could find something suitable, either of you fancy a little adventure holiday?

I've still got to take you both to Longleat. I assume not-weekends are best?

There are indeed magical holidays and if I'm not mistaken there IS a magical travel agency (not in Diagon Alley. I think it's on the southwest side of London. I'll ask mum) since my parents used it a fair amount of times when we were growing up. Muggle holiday attractions are really fun too; when I was 12 we went to this place in the US called Dizzyworld and it is supposed to be 'the happiest place on earth'. It was really brilliant. Though the best holiday I ever had was the World Cup in 2004! I mean, of course those morons in the Death Eater masks had to cause trouble but at least they waited until after the match.

Apparently, I don't know Diagon Alley as well as I think I do. Sometimes I think it moves around, like the staircases in Hogwarts.

Do you mean Disney World? I went once, it was great! And now I want to go ride rollercoasters.

I'd love to go to a world cup, too.

Oh that's so great! Have a wonderful time, I know you will.

There are all of those things. Well I'm not sure about the flying carpets, but I could look and see. The ones I liked best were the ones I was staying in the middle of nowhere with just the animals around me.

Thanks, Luna. I'll bring you something back.

Now I have too much choice! Good thing I have a while to think about it.

Oh that would be nice.

I know, that's always the hard part about vacations - deciding where to go.

Yes there are those sorts of holidays, although I've never been on one. Well, unless you count visiting Bill in Egypt and getting accidentally chased by mummies. Although that was fab holiday. We didn't go on holidays much.

[Warded to Dominic and Genie]

I'd forgotten about that. And I'm not sure about Genie's other jobs but not-weekend works far better for me. You might even get me up before noon if it's a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Getting accidentally chased by mummies absolutely counts! Egypt is definitely going on my list.

[Warded to Dominic and Genie]
We'd probably have to get up before noon if we're going to drive all the way to Longleat. Speaking of muggle adventures, your leg could put up with a theme park, right?

I'm not so sure. It was because they hadn't quite finished the cursebreaking. The mummies are probably a bit more docile by now.

[Warded to Dominic and Genie]

I'm kidding, well, I'm not, but getting up early for once isn't going to kill me.

Okay, I'm good with a lot of muggle things by now, but what's a theme park? That's one I've not come across.

Even so - pyramids, camels, sunshine, interesting food, and I haven't been before. Sounds pretty good to me.

[Warded to Charlie and Genie]

Okay, before I launch into an explanation - do you know what a rollercoaster is?

Oh, definitely good. Just don't expect rampaging mummies.

[Warded to Dominic and Genie]

No. Can't even guess. Although my leg is pretty stable, if that's what you're asking.

Expect and hope are very different things.

[Warded to Charlie and Genie]

Then we definitely need to take you to a theme park! I'll try to pop into a library and make sure they're okay with prosthetics on the rides. I'd think they would be, but it doesn't hurt to check.

A rollercoaster is like an open-topped car on a track that's built in the air that goes up and down steep hills and around tight corners and sometimes upside down. It's really hard to explain.

Sort of like this:

And a theme park has lots of these rides?

I mean, I guess it's sort of giving muggles a taste of what trick flying a broom would be like. I'm up for trying it as long as they're okay with my leg. It's pretty fucking secure and I can make extra sure for the day.

I think that'd be fabulous. I'm totally in, so long as it doesn't conflict with work or my family trip.

Well, let us know when your trips are and I'll try to sort something for a Tuesday or Wednesday.

How do you feel about rollercoasters?

The very beginning of July this month is our regular camping trip. Other than that, I'm free but for work :D
