Journal - Good News
Good news for (potential) Wingbeat customers. When we open the doors next week (11th June onwards) there will be a dedicated area which is sound and body limited on the ground floor, and a handy platform to ease access to the second floor.

In practical terms this means that the area to the right side of the bar on the ground floor (marked by a low divider) will have the sound from the music MUCH reduced and sudden sounds lowered. Sound within the area will be minimally affected unless they are over a certain volume. The area will include access to a small portion of the bar. As for the body limited part, the number of people allowed in this area is limited in such a way that it will never be crowded. No, I'm not giving out specific numbers.

The area is intended for people who have problems with loud noises or crowds (and those with them) to still be able to enjoy Wingbeat. If you want to use it because you need to have a quieter conversation please try to make it brief and respect the patrons who absolutely need to be in that area for their own health/peace of mind.

The access platform is voice activated and simple instructions are posted at both the top and bottom of the stairs. This is intended for people with mobility problems, not for those who got too pissed and think they'll fall down the stairs (if you do that we're going to sober you up and throw you out). If you have need of it and can't read the instructions please ask a member of staff. Don't forget there's at least one regular member of staff who actually needs to use it so he doesn't hold up people climbing the stairs (that'd be me).

Basically we're using an honour system until we find we need to do something otherwise. Usual club rules apply otherwise, try not to be dicks about this.

Feel free to ask questions. And thank you Dominic Chambers for all your hard work.

That sounds great.

I do have one question though. How far through the main doors do you need to go to get to the sound dampened area?

Thanks.

Not too far, it sort of wraps around to a couple of metres or so from the doors, although you have to follow the area around the edge of the room. Most of it is actually the opposite side of the room to the doors. There will be some 'don't congregate here' type signs, and possibly minor spellwork so that the easy access point should stay free.

If you do want to come and use the area that's great, but just to warn you, there's no toilet access in the sound dampened area, there was just no way to make that work.

You made it quiet? That's good.

I'm not sure I'd call it quiet, but definitely a lot quieter in that specific area. If you come and still find it too noisy please let me know.

Does this include a space for horrible workaholics who want to come by and show their support of the endeavor?

Sure. So long as you don't bring the work with you. The idea is me and the team work so the patrons don't have to.

Sorry I missed you last time you came by the way. Saw you but can't be everywhere at once and I got pulled away.

You'll put off the other customers. So yes!

If you're patrons have nothing better to do than worry about whether or not I'm working you're not doing something right.

It's more that you'll likely take up a table with papers and those are at a premium as it is.

Besides, you deserve a rest sometimes. And that doesn't include time spent putting up with my brother.

You're just sealing my resolve that the Corner at Finnigan's is my favorite relaxation spot.

Ron is not as stressful as he seems to be at times. You just have to know how to deal with him.

One night without work isn't going to hurt, Hermione. Although if you want to bring a book I won't object too much. They only take up a little bit of room.

Food. The answer is food most of the time. Possibly other things, but food is a good bet.

I take time off. I just don't quite understand the need for brash environments. Besides, my job can be quite relaxing to me.

Definitely the answer a good bit of the time.
