RP: Moving Day
Who: Ginny, anyone (among friends/family) who'd like to join
What: Ginny is finally moving out of the Burrow.
Where: The Burrow --> Pucey's building on Monument
When: Morning, Sunday May 31, 2005
Rating: SFW for now. There might be language later.

Why is an alarm going off? It was a gods-awful early hour and Ginny hadn't finished her packing until after 3 in the morning, despite Molly having been on her for a week to get to it and get organized. Organizing people, Ginny was quite good at. Strategy was a major strength. But organizing stuff? Life? Herself? Not so much. She was much more like Ron and George in that regard, than her other brothers, Percy coming to mind especially.

And so it was that her alarm was going off at 7 and she'd had less than 4 hours of sleep. Ginny swatted at it but when the noise stopped her mother came banging into the room with a cup of tea and a worried smile on her face. "Thought you might need some tea, I could hear you up here all hours of the night, even though I told you it would be better to finish days ago, did anyone even agree to help you out today instead of yesterday?" Molly clucked but Ginny just smiled sleepily from under the covers. She knew her Mum was just nervous, and worried, and proud - and, truth be told, Ginny was all of those things, too.

"It all got done, though," she called after her Mum as the older woman left the room with an exasperated chuckle and then Gin sat up and reached for her wand on the floor next to her twin-sized bed. She'd need to shrink down her bed, her bedding, and pack up her toiletries. Otherwise, everything she owned was in boxes and bags, shrunk to make them easier to deal with but not so small that they might mis-shape when she tried to put them back to normal. Hexes, defense, flying - emotional magic was her strongest, precise magic like charms could go either way, she knew.

Throwing on shorts and a t-shirt, she shrunk the last items and took a moment to look around her now mostly-empty room. The Burrow would always be home, but she knew in this moment that she was ready for the next step.

Sipping her tea, she met her Mum downstairs and with a hug she floo'ed with the first of her packages to the flat where she met Jane. Her new flatmate squealed in delight and tackled her, "We're really doing it!" she exclaimed to Ginny's tired nod. "I brought my stuff last night, so back to The Burrow?"

The girls worked back and forth for the morning, stopping at 11 for lunch of take-out from Finnigan's. After lunch, with all of Ginny's things moved over to the new flat, they sat on the floor and started scheming about how to set things up where and how they wanted to decorate.

Hermione was extremely proud of Ginny's move. That left Ron as the only one of the Weasley children still at the Burrow. Honestly, Hermione wished it were Ron they were moving as each trip there seemed to get more awkward the more time passed. Still, she was ecstatic for her friend and definitely looking forward to having girl time in a girl's only loft.

After a promised brunch with her parents, Hermione made her way to Monument Alley and Ginny's new flat. Upon arrival, she knocked on the door and waited for either of the young women to answer.

Ginny and Charlie were tucking into the coffee in the kitchen so Jane answered the door, "Hermione!" She exclaimed with high pitch, hugging the girl. They'd only met on one previous occasion, at Wingbeat a few weeks prior, but that didn't stop Jane from acting like they'd known each other all their lives. "Come on in, we haven't really started yet, but everything's here. Red and I are both pants at charms, so I think we're putting off un-shrinking everything," she laughed.

"Ginny, your sister's here," Jane called to Charlie and Ginny as she showed Hermione into the kitchen. Jane knew that Hermione wasn't Ginny's sister, but there were so many Weasleys she'd taken to calling all of Ginny's friends and loved ones siblings. It occurred to her in that moment that she hoped Ginny had explained that Hermione and so she said as they came upon Charlie and Ginny, "Hermione, I mean," and smiled brightly at both girls.

Hermione stiffened slightly as the hug came. She'd never been one to be overly familiar with people, particularly those she'd just met. That was one of the reasons she'd had such a hard time connecting with others when she first entered Hogwarts. Well, that and her focus on academia over socialization. Truth be told socialization still wasn't a strong suit though she did try to get out a bit more often and had been widening her horizons outside of the Leaky and Finnnigan's.

"I'm sure you've both done brilliantly," she looked over at a set of smaller than normal boxes that was sitting over to the side. "Ginny's always been better at these spells than most of the boys." By boys, Hermione meant both their male friends and the one's Ginny had grown up with. Mixing those thoughts with Jane's words Hermione smiled inwardly, Ginny had been the closest thing to a sister Hermione had ever had.
