RP: Moving Day
Who: Ginny, anyone (among friends/family) who'd like to join
What: Ginny is finally moving out of the Burrow.
Where: The Burrow --> Pucey's building on Monument
When: Morning, Sunday May 31, 2005
Rating: SFW for now. There might be language later.

Why is an alarm going off? It was a gods-awful early hour and Ginny hadn't finished her packing until after 3 in the morning, despite Molly having been on her for a week to get to it and get organized. Organizing people, Ginny was quite good at. Strategy was a major strength. But organizing stuff? Life? Herself? Not so much. She was much more like Ron and George in that regard, than her other brothers, Percy coming to mind especially.

And so it was that her alarm was going off at 7 and she'd had less than 4 hours of sleep. Ginny swatted at it but when the noise stopped her mother came banging into the room with a cup of tea and a worried smile on her face. "Thought you might need some tea, I could hear you up here all hours of the night, even though I told you it would be better to finish days ago, did anyone even agree to help you out today instead of yesterday?" Molly clucked but Ginny just smiled sleepily from under the covers. She knew her Mum was just nervous, and worried, and proud - and, truth be told, Ginny was all of those things, too.

"It all got done, though," she called after her Mum as the older woman left the room with an exasperated chuckle and then Gin sat up and reached for her wand on the floor next to her twin-sized bed. She'd need to shrink down her bed, her bedding, and pack up her toiletries. Otherwise, everything she owned was in boxes and bags, shrunk to make them easier to deal with but not so small that they might mis-shape when she tried to put them back to normal. Hexes, defense, flying - emotional magic was her strongest, precise magic like charms could go either way, she knew.

Throwing on shorts and a t-shirt, she shrunk the last items and took a moment to look around her now mostly-empty room. The Burrow would always be home, but she knew in this moment that she was ready for the next step.

Sipping her tea, she met her Mum downstairs and with a hug she floo'ed with the first of her packages to the flat where she met Jane. Her new flatmate squealed in delight and tackled her, "We're really doing it!" she exclaimed to Ginny's tired nod. "I brought my stuff last night, so back to The Burrow?"

The girls worked back and forth for the morning, stopping at 11 for lunch of take-out from Finnigan's. After lunch, with all of Ginny's things moved over to the new flat, they sat on the floor and started scheming about how to set things up where and how they wanted to decorate.

Charlie hugged Ginny back and grinned. "And this is why you're my favourite sister. And no protesting you're the only one, either," he said, following her inside. "There's Fleur too, and Hermione basically counts by now."

"Oh, you know me, nothing better to do after working until 4 than helping my sister organise the... creative chaos of her new home," he said, eyeing the boxes that were spilling over everywhere. Not that his own place had looked much better when he'd moved in.

He smiled at her flatmate and held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Charlie, second eldest of the brothers. Sorry if we've met at Wingbeat or something, I don't remember faces from work too well because there's so many."

Ginny laughed at Charlie, shaking her head but not protesting like he asked. "At least you're not the only one, I was up till after 3 packing and got about three and a half hours of sleep." She rolled her eyes and mumbled, "Maybe Mum was right about packing ahead of time..."

Jane gave a bright smile - the girl was a ball of sunshine, like Luna on muggle amphetamines, Ginny thought - and said, "I've been to the club, but never met you, don't worry," and after shaking his hand, she reached up and hugged him, tightly. Ginny wasn't sure if that sort of thing was okay with Charlie - she knew he wasn't particularly touchy-feely with just anyone - and so she stepped up to them and said, "Well then, shall we get you that coffee?" with a pointed look.

"I had to get up before fucking noon, and that's never good with my sleeping pattern. At least I got more sleep than you though," he said and grimaced. He'd lay money on Mum having woken her up too, and that was just painful. "Mum's right way more often than we want her to be, but it's not like I did much better when I moved out. Well, at least not the first time." When he'd moved out after recuperating from his lost leg his Mum had insisted on doing most of what re-packing there was herself.

Charlie was a little startled by the hug, and returned it a mite awkwardly. He liked making friends, considered himself a friendly person, but hugs from people he'd just met were a little unusual. "Merlin, yes," he said. "Feed my caffeine addiction please. And if you've got food left I wouldn't say no either." Not something he'd say to anyone who wasn't family, and maybe Romilda. "I only had one and that is not enough."

"Only one so far? No wonder you need more," she answered. She'd had her tea when Mum had woken her, but the coffee from the pub had been a great help for her energy at lunch.

"So, what do you think of the place?" She asked, feigning nonchalance as she made them both a cup.

"Hey, I demanded coffee when I agreed to help out," he pointed out, following her into kitchen and glancing around. It really wasn't bad at all. "You don't want me to get lack of caffeine jitters, buggers up the leg situation no end!"

Charlie recognised Ginny's overly relaxed attitude, clearly she was far more invested in what he had to say than she was trying to let on. "Well, assuming the bedrooms aren't built like broom cupboards I think you've done good, sis. I mean, a few less boxes'll make it look better, and Jane's very... enthusiastic, but congratulations on not picking a shithole to move into for your first place."
