Owl to Rolf Scamander
Dear Rolf,

I see you're back in town. I couldn't tell you how delighted I am, since it seems like forever since we've talked. You might not know, but your owls were often some of my brightest spots. I always dreamed of travel, but I haven't yet done very much myself. I felt like I lived vicariously through you.

It seems like I haven't had much of a life lately. Busy in the shop, always worrying about wedding plans. Some days I wish we'd just run off to Scotland and forget the whole huge thing, but Narcissa and my mother would never forgive me. Is it strange to be a bride and not looking forward to people staring at me and making a fuss? You probably don't care.

Anyway, I was wondering if you'd do me the great pleasure of coming to my flat for tea this weekend? Normally I go home to the manor, but I was wicked and said I had plans but really all I wanted was to curl up with a good book and maybe talk to you.

I hope this reaches you well.

All the best,
Astoria</i>

Dear Astoria,

I am! And I've been meaning to owl ever since I've been back. I have a couple of finished letters here, in fact, that just haven't made it yet. Circumstances that led me back were personally embarrassing unexpected and I'm afraid I've been busy with those and with Grandfather thrusting the family business upon me as soon as I was cleared for such.

I'm so glad my owls can brighten your day. You should take some time to travel sometime -- perhaps Draco will wish to see some of the world once you two are married. It is a bit strange, I think, to not be looking forward so much. As your friend, it does make me hope you're moving in the direction you truly want and will make you happy. And I do care. You're my friend! And if it is important to you, mon ami, than it is important to me.

It would be an honor to come over. I'd love to sit and catch up and have a proper cup. Since I've been negligent these past weeks, is there anything I can bring with me to make it up to you? Which day would work best?

So happy to hear from you. See you soon!

Rolf

Dear Rolf,

I shall forgive you your oversight, but only just. Oh no! I hope you were not injured or anything like that! Or at least you're quite well mended if so. How is the shop doing? I'll have to come visit you.

They did. They helped me imaging what it was like in far off places. I liked how you described Tibet and the jungles of Borneo best of all. I felt I was there myself! But I think Draco and I will try and find some time to travel. We have a honeymoon planned in Portugal, and with a side trip to the Azores. It should be lovely! Have you been?

You're so sweet to say. I DO want to marry him, don't be confused on that point, I'm just...nervous about the huge to-do bit. Though most days I love it too so maybe I just need a break.

Wonderful! Maybe Sunday? If you're not too busy? Just bring your lovely self, maybe some photos of your travels? I'd love to see them.

See you Sunday then?

-Astoria

Dear Astoria,

Unfortunately, I got in the way of a gryphon (the smaller but no less fierce cousins of the griffins you're more familiar with) and so I was injured, yes. It was a lack of forward thinking on my fault, not the gryphon's, though I will admit that in my poorer moments I resent the creature for its attack.

The shop is doing well now that I'm in management, though I'm still clearing up some of the mess that the previous manager got it into while grandfather was busy with other things. Do come visit, anytime! You're always welcome.

I'm so glad. I love visiting the world, and getting to share it with others is always its special kind of amazing. That is a lovely location for the two of you. I went many years ago -- we spent many years in France, so traveling back and forth to the closer areas was frequent.

I think one should be at least a little nervous, I suppose, or so people say. I think you'll do just fine with the to-do, though. It will be a very lovely occasion. But if you need a break, I can give you one, I hope, and see if it helps.

Sunday works wonderfully. I'll be by at the usual time, with photos and a few souvenirs for you. I'll see you then, my dear! Until then, don't fret too much.

Affectionately,

Rolf

Rolf,

You didn't! Oh you poor dear, and here I was not coming to see you or anything at all! I feel a dastardly friend, you deserve much better! Well, I'm glad you're on the mend, I wish you would have told me sooner so I could have sent you flowers at the very least.

That's good then, your grandfather is so lucky to have you. I can't imagine cleaning up after a bad manager's mess, but good you have things on the up and up. I'll be round soon, I always love your sweet company, and besides, Calliope could use some more mice.

Oh good! I'm especially looking forward to the Azores. I wanted a more tropical honeymoon, and this was our compromise over just doing the continent. It should be very romantic, I think! I'd love any tips you have on what to see while we're there!

That IS what they say. Bride to be jitters , I think. And I DO love planning, it's just a lot of opinions have to mesh and a lot of personalities that have very STRONG opinions, so it's a bit of a mess on occasion, but I'm still glad for marrying Draco all the same.

Wonderful! I can't wait to see you and the photos! You shouldn't have gotten me anything, but you're too good not to, I know. I look forward to seeing you then.

Your friend,
Tori

Tori,

Well, I didn't precisely tell you, so don't feel bad. I admit I'm rather embarrassed of the whole thing. It was a bit of carelessness and a bit of bad luck all rolled into one.

I suppose it was fortuitous that I became free to attend to it all when he discovered it, but I have a feeling I'll be doing tidying up for the next while. Boring stuff so far -- he did take good care of the animals -- but tedious things. I'll set aside some extra juicy mice for Calliope as well. I've been giving her some new treats, too, she seems to like them.

I'll make you up a list in the next few weeks. When is the big day again? You know me, forgetful as ever.

That's all that matters then. You'll get through the wedding and things will be fabulous.

I had to get you something, but of course! Hopefully you'll like it. See you later!

Hugs,

Rolf

Rolf.

I'll feel bad all the same, but thank you for absolving me. We all have a bit of bad luck, and we're not all perfect, son't don't beat yourself up.

You're a dear to do so. She doesn't mind flying to you, so they must be very nice treats. She can be a bit fickle, you see, though I love her all the same.

Valentine's Day. It's easy to remember that way, isn't it?

You're too sweet. I'll see you soon!

Hugs back,
Tori
