Lucy nodded, smiling. "I can't speak from experience, but I think that's what life at university is supposed to be about." Lucy regretted that she hadn't been able to hang out with Katie at university and drag her out to the clubs and societies and bars that she'd missed out on. She'd been so focussed on her academics - and she had done well, but Lucy was convinced she could have done just as well and had a little fun along the way. "Owls just aren't the same," she said, making a face. She'd felt so cut off from her family at school, when owls had been her only method of communication. She didn't want to go back to that.
Lucy nodded, bracing herself for the off. It had been a long time since she'd done a tumble turn, there were usually too many people at public pools, but she thought she could remember how it worked. In the first length, Dean easily outpaced her despite her competitive spirit. In the shallow end, though, she had the advantage of shorter limbs. She twisted herself into the turn, finding that the movement still came naturally, though she scraped a little too close to the floor. It helped even things up, and she kept her head down as she kicked towards their finishing point.
