Gwenog nodded with a hum. For those who had experienced the war she doubted there would ever be a way to move on completely, not with the memories still present, but moving forward at least wouldn't hurt too much. At least not for her.

"Yeah, not much use for multi-seats in my life," she agreed, taking the proffered broom. She examined it closely as he provided a description, admiring the lines and running her fingers carefully along the twigs. The speed description made her grin. "It's more designed for speed than manoeuvrability, yes?" she asked. She was partial to both options, but the movement was far more important for Quidditch, or at least it needed to be more balanced against the speed. And of course less cushioning charms would be hell in a long match but for races it was less important because they tended to be far shorter.

She hefted the broom lightly noticing the balance and the differences from her own preferred broom. "I probably have time for a short test flight, or at least a fast one," she said, grinning. The coaches tended to be less enthusiastic about the players doing things at breakneck speeds, especially with important matches coming up, but Gwenog was an old hand, she knew how far she could push it.

Rich shook his head. "More of a Seeker 's broom all grown up. The tuning is modeled after my short course broom. Speed and handling are pretty balance. If you want to do a really tight turn at speed, lay it over on its side and reverse control and power through. I give lessons at a local course if you want to try a little amateur racing in the off-season."

He handed the broom to Gwenog. "Get a little altitude first and wring it out. I'd definitely be interested in your opinion. "

"Oh, okay, that makes sense too," she said, nodding along, examining the broom more closely, head tilted. She shrugged at his suggested. "Let's see how the end of the season goes first, but assuming I've not fucked up and got myself another injury." At least her recent injury wasn't causing any problems for her quidditch playing any longer. Her stretching? Yes. Her dancing? Definitely. Her quidditch? Not at all. Although she was avoiding Starfish and Stick if she could help it.

"Thanks," she said, and quickly set the broom to hovering at the right height. It seemed a good level of responsive so far. She swung her leg over the handle and felt the broom adjust to her weight. Double checking her robes weren't in the way (although they were purpose-designed quidditch robes it did still occasionally happen) she smirked at Richard and gave him a slightly exaggerated little finger wave before pushing off. She didn't rise too fast at first, giving her the time to slip her feet onto the irons which was rarely a simple prospect at higher speeds.

However once she was up above the houses, shops, and temporary stalls of all kinds she began to increase her speed. She could definitely tell the difference in the amount of cushioning, but it wasn't problematically low. Carefully she began to fly loops and figure of eights over the village, increasing her speed as she went.

"Yeah, heard you'd pranged yourself. One of the hazards of doing anything on a broom. All healed up now?"

Rich knew all about injuries from competing on a broom. He'd even had to ask Oliver to fill in for the Italian racing pro who was originally schedule to do demo flights with him after that fellow racer had missed a low turn on a race in the Alps and gone into the trees.

He watched with interest as Gwenog began to do a few more complicated manuvers. Speed was still low, but then again he'd been on brooms since he was five, and started racing in a children't division at age six.

"Lay out flat on the stick and open it up if you'd like," he called when Gwenog came by on a low pass.

"Yeah, I'm good now," she said. "Like you said, hazard of the job, even if it's always frustrating." As far as Quidditch was concerned, and the public was concerned that was the case. There were a couple of people at the dance studio she used who knew she was having problems, but they were muggles so it didn't exactly count.

Gwenog had been using the loops she was flying to get used to the handling of the broom, and even though her speed had been increasing it was still far from fast. Then she heard the call from below and pulled her hand from the broom long enough to flip her middle finger at Rich, although from somewhere past where he could probably see her due to the fact she was moving. He wasn't wrong though, it was a racing broom and she'd need to speed up to really appreciate it. She allowed herself to round the corner of her loop before lowering herself down, and letting the broom's speed component really kick in. And Merlin's balls this thing was far faster than she was generally used to. It was great. She'd ridden non-quidditch legal brooms occasionally but not very often. She shifted to turn, glad to see the the breaking was balanced as well as being fast. She flew around, testing out different components of the broom, for a while before heading back towards the stand, slowing decently so she could glide in and not risk even slightly crashing into anyone, or give the appearance of it.

"Nice work!" she said, swinging herself neatly down.

"That's all good then. I know how those sorts of things can linger on sometimes."

Rich chuckled when he caught a quick glimpse of Gwenog's response and then nodded when she got down to serious flying. It was obvious she was skilled in the air, even though with his years of racing experience he could tell that she really didn't have much experience on a broom set up for racing instead of Quidditch. Still, even her landing was well-controlled and precise.

"Glad you liked it." He turned to the table and leafed through a large folder, pulling out a formally caligraphed and sealed parchment. Turning back to Gwenog, he held it out to her. "Keep the broom, if you liked it. Here's the registration. Bluebottle worked with Percy Weasly over at the Ministry to make sure the C-Class would be legal for everyday use, and with the International Racing Association so you could take it right onto the track and into a Novice race. It will be competitive up to the C-level races, and if you get the spellwork unlocked, into B and probably A races as well. All we ask is if you continue to like it, you ride it. And if somebody happens to ask you what make you're riding, let them know it is a Bluebottle. Just a little publicity to help get around the reputation as a stodgy, family broom company."

She nodded in agreement. "Yeah, I've been lucky all around really," she said. And she wasn't lying either. At her age most professional players were either retired or seriously considering it due to persistent injuries. Wizarding ageing and magical healing could help a lot to prolong a career, but not beyond reason.

"It was great, although I imagine you can tell it doesn't handle like my usual choice," she said. She knew there was a difference between broom types and she herself owned a couple of different models which she interchanged depending on the needs for an individual match. That said she wasn't about to say no to another just because it wasn't match-legal. She had enjoyed flying around at high speeds, whether or not she had any thoughts of trying out racing. "Thanks, I'll make sure to do that," she said, accepting the certificate with a polite nod and tucking it away in a pocket of her robes designed for scrolls. "Although having felt what this can do I don't understand why anyone would think it was still a stodgy company. I mean, sure, the multi-seaters are a bit of an eye-puller but this...," she said, shaking her head as she swung the broom up onto her shoulder. "Idiots."

Rich shrugged. "Lot of years of reputation to get around. Why the company folded a few years ago. If I hadn't given you a test hop, would the Bluebottle name have crossed your mind for a high-performance broom?"

When Rich and a few of his racing friends bought Bluebottle, all they'd really purchased was the company name and trademarks and a sort of run-down broom works building outside of Covington.

"So you can see why we're trying to get some of our C-Class broom into the hands of people with a reputation as an excellent flyer."

"Point," she admitted. Even though they apparently didn't do quidditch legal brooms yet the performance of the racing one was miles beyond what she could even imagined Bluebottle producing. "Wouldn't have bothered trying, no matter what the advertising said." Well, maybe if other players came out with good reports but not off her own initiative.

"Well, mission accomplished then, at least for one person," she said. Her reputation had never denied her skill on a broom, and she was very proud of that.

She pulled her pocket watch out and swore. "Shit, I should get going. I wanted to look around before the next demo and excellent as the broom was the details blur a bit when you get that fast!" She said it with an actual smile though, some extra flying helping to relax more. "Thanks for the broom, best of luck with the stand."
