Dora chuckled quietly, even if her heart wasn't quite in it. "Well then I'll strive not to be worse than the children," she said.
It tickled, almost. But somehow the brush and the paint was almost soothing, and she sighed quietly. Her fingers slowly traced shapes on her other hand, not impatient at all, just quietly doing something to also be soothing.
She blinked a couple of times once she was free to do so. Her eyes adjusted and focussed on him again, flitting to his lips as he spoke again. "I was surprised it was this fair out," she said. "I really did expect it to be wet. But at least there's sunshine to cheer things up a bit." It was her first year doing this, and she was grateful for that much cooperation from the weather at least.
