Dennis looked up from the horrifically sugar-filled and whip cream-covered monstrosity that Rose had convinced him to order and blinked at his friend and few times. He'd heart that morning from his mother that they'd made a movie version of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and he'd been utterly determined to see it. Obviously, he hadn't wanted to go alone so he'd asked Rose to come with him. She'd sat utterly transfixed through the movie, and Dennis suddenly understood why.
He started to laugh, he just couldn't help it. "Oh no dear, they didn't use magic at all," he said, still chortling. "All the effects were done with computers or makeup or sometimes puppets. The really flashy scenes are done with green backdrops and then animators come in later and draw over the film basically. Or else they'll put someone in a costume and make it blend with makeup. Or someone will use different explosives to make all the pyrotechnic stuff happen." He took another couple of mouthfuls of cream and then winked at her. "I did wonder why you were so utterly silent! I thought I was going to have to shush you!"
