RP: Need to talk
Who: Susan and Rose
What: Susan wants to talk
Where: Rose’s flat
When: Friday, 5. September - afternoon
Rating: NSFW – Language, probably

Susan’s sudden urge to gossip had Rose a little on edge. Sure, Susan could take care of herself, but she wasn’t prone to dramatics like this, so while she waited for her friend to show up, Rose busied herself with shading the drawing of a sleeping Vasile that she had started before going to Peru. She took a step back to get a better idea of how it was going, taking a bite out of the mamaliga ball with smoked sausage she’d picked up for lunch from a Muggle Romanian restaurant. Not too bad, the drawing that was, the food was delicious as always, though she quickly washed it down with the wine she had poured when there was a knock on the door.

Opening the door, she simply quirked a concerned eyebrow at Susan and held the door open so she could come inside. Susan knew how to make herself comfortable. “You alright? What happened?”

Susan allowed herself to be drawn into Rose's lovely little flat, sinking down into an armchair and looking at her friend in a slightly shellshocked manner. She wasn't one to gossip, but this wasn't really gossip. This was her brain trying to deal with what had just happened and bringing in a second person to help.

"I had sex," she said at last, looking Rose in the eye. "Which isn't unusual I'll grant you, bit of a free agent me." She grimaced, and cut herself off before she began to babble. "But I had sex, with Eddie."

Rose followed Susan, grabbing another wine glass from the kitchen as Susan revealed her reason for being there. “Okay…” Rose said hesitantly, because Susan having sex wasn’t all that extraordinary an event. Oh, she was sure that it was for Susan and whoever she was with, but it wasn’t an earth shattering revelation that the highly sexually active Susan had indeed had sex. That, apparently, Susan was well aware of, and fortunately she made quick process of getting to the actual point.

That piece of information had Rose stop completely in her tracks for a moment, before she turned back around and grabbed the bottle of țuică as well as two shots glasses to go with the wine glass. “With Eddie?” she asked directly as she first set down the shot glasses, filling each of them to the brim and handing Susan one. She wasn’t blind, in fact her eyesight was pretty damn good and she had good taste in both men and women, so Rose was very well aware of just how sexy Eddie was, so that she couldn’t fault Susan, but… he was Eddie. Eddie! And Eddie, to Rose, was a colleague and a brother-type, not unlike Vasile. Besides, Eddie was kind of an arse when it came to women. “Why?” she asked, gesturing for Susan to do her shot, hoping that maybe that could take some of that shell shocked edge off. Knocking back her own shot, she put the glass down, savouring the burn of the very potent brandy and poured Susan a glass of red wine.

Had Susan not been so wrapped up in her own head, she probably would have laughed at the face that Rose made when Susan revealed she'd had sex. As she'd said, not life shattering news. As it was though she was still trying to process the situation as best she could.

"With Eddie," she repeated, accepting a shot of what looked like țuică or slivovitz. Shrugging helplessly, she downed the entire drink ignoring any side-effects mixing alcohol and healing potions would have. "That's the thing," she said. "I don't know. I went 'round to see him as I got injured last night, and he was incredibly flirty, so I got a bit flirty back, and then he told me I was sexy and then we kissed and well... I ended up in his bed." Sighing, she accepted the wine. "I have no idea what to think."

Rose listened intently, her eyes on Susan, observing keenly everything about the other witch, trying to pick up on anything that could give her a bit of a clue as for how to go about this. Drawing up her knee she rested her elbow on top of it and dangled her wineglass idly from her fingers.

She cleared her throat. “So basically you were being you, Eddie was being Eddie and you ended up being idiots about it?” she asked, then chuckled, not unkindly, rather amused and a little shocked. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that. I mean, yes, I did, but…” with a sigh she ran her fingers through her hair. “You’re you, he’s Eddie and the situation isn’t ideal, true, but… what’s the problem, babe?”

Susan grimaced. "Remember how I told you about Richard Merrill and his wife Marie-Claire Clemenceau, and how they completely fucked me over," she began her stomach going cold as she forced their names through her lips. "Well Eddie looked at me, and made me feel safe and special for the first time since the whole sordid ménage à trois ended."

She drained her wine, and got up, pouring another shot of țuică for herself and Rose. "Now obviously this is a problem, because Eddie so doesn't do girlfriends, and I'm 'Susan: that fun, loving sexy Auror chick who never gets attached' so having feelings for him, even the beginnings of feelings is just..." She trailed off, draining her shot and sitting back down. "We agreed after we finished that it was just a casual thing - probably down to potions and pent up energy, and that we'd still totally be friends who maybe occasionally had sex, and just-" she smacked herself in the forehead and lay back. "I am a fucking moron basically."

Rose nodded sympathetically. Susan had told her and every time Rose thought about it, a tight feeling of discomfort and hurt on her friend’s behalf appeared in the pit of her stomach. It made her swallow down, until Susan reached that point. “Eddie’s always looking at you,” she snorted. “You can’t mean you haven’t noticed that. I’d be amazed if you’d ever actually seen his eyes, and not just his eyelids, you know?”

Leaning back in her chair, Rose let Susan jabber on, figuring that since there was no really good solution to this situation at least she could listen while Susan talked. And she was listening, although just as she knocked back the shot that had she had just been poured, Susan chose to reveal the one thing that had Rose choke on her drink. “What?” she croaked, her eyes watering with the strong liquor burning in her throat. “Helga’s tits, Sue, what kind of feelings are we talking, and please, please tell me that it’s the lust based version we’re talking about.”

Susan lifted her eyebrows and thought back over the years she'd known Eddie. "Okay yes," she admitted. "I've caught him starting at my boobs more than once, but then I can't really blame him: sometimes I catch myself staring at them." To be fair she'd never really seen it as anything more than the basic perving that men like Eddie always seemed to be doing. She certainly hadn't thought he'd possessed a desire to make her orgasm an obscene amount of times over a single morning.

She snorted as Rose chocked on her drinks. "I don't know, I'm totally out of practice at feelings. Feelings are things that happen to other people. Maybe he just caught me at a weak moment?"

With a slight nod, Rose pursed her lips and made a gesture with her hand indicating that she could totally see where Susan was coming from in this; she had often enough admired Susan’s boobs – nice and big and round, bigger than a handful but without being too big – and if she had had boobs like that, it wouldn’t have just been staring she’d be doing with them.

Wiping her eyes, Rose listened as she poured them another shot to make up for the one that had just gone down the wrong way. “Could be,” she guessed, and sat back in her chair. “I really couldn’t tell you. I’ve never been in practice with feelings like that, so I honestly haven’t a clue.” At 20, Rose hadn’t had any positive relationships that weren’t either friendship or lust. Never combined, and she was fine with the prospect of being the way things would be for the rest of her life. She didn’t have a need to settle down, didn’t feel the need to find The One. Why would she? Of the few people she truly trusted, she had the best friends in the world and lovers? Well, if they weren’t good, she’d find another.

Susan broke down into helpless giggles at Rose's enthusiastic agreement with Susan's assessment of her boobs. "Does everyone find them distracting," Susan asked, still laughing.

She snorted and accepted another shot of brandy, ignoring the fact that drinking so much of it was probably a tremendously bad idea. After downing it, and sipping her wine, she turned her attention back to Rose. "Ah yes you're thinking to yourself 'why would I ever want to settle down' am I right," She asked with a dry little laugh. "If there's one thing my vast age and experience can give you, because obviously four years is so long," she added with a snort at her own joke. "What was I saying? Oh yes, assume nothing. You could fall for someone in the blink of an eye, but for the love of all that is good and holy make sure you remain who you are and don't be one of those soft cocks looking for the One because that means you wont be able to have as many gorgeous people between your legs, and that is stupid and Helga's bouncing bosoms what the hell is in this Rosie I am drunk."

“They’re amazing!” Rose laughed, amused by Susan’s giggles – she didn’t think she’d ever heard Susan giggling before – and very much in awe of the physical gifts Susan had been born with.

Sipping her wine, Rose shook her head. “I wasn’t,” she claimed with a shrug, then held up her hand. “Well, I am now because you put that thought in my head, because obviously those four years… that’s a lifetime for some people, Susan. A lifetime.” Okay, so those shots were beginning to bite back, but right now Rose didn’t really care; Susan was laughing and appeared to have snapped out of the frustration she had arrived with. “I’m pretty sure that if you ask Eddie or Rolf or Vasile or even yourself, you’d all agree that if there’s The One for me out there, he’d either be stupidly brave or deadly patient, most likely both, and that,” she nodded to the bottle, “is fățată classified țuică cu fruct, which basically is just double-distilled, strong as hell plum brandy with a pear in the bottle.”

"Thank you, dearest," Susan said, jokingly cupping her breasts obligingly. She smiled, coming to see Rose had been a great idea - although maybe the devil brandy hadn't been, but at least she was less freaked out.

She snorted and shook her head. "I'm an excellent legilimens, so I'd be far more subtle if I'd actually put it in your head." She was about to continue, when she burst out laughing. "It is a lifetime for a four year old, isn't it? But you're right, your 'One' would have to be a completely stella bloke, and I look forward to meeting him or her if and when they come around." She shook her head at the bottle. "Of course, why not put a pear on plum brandy? Why not?"

“Mm,” Rose hummed in content satisfaction at the joking show Susan put on. Why not enjoy it when it was right there. She was soon laughing with her friend, just because she couldn’t help it.

Rose held out her hands and shook her head. “Why use Legilimency when all you have to do is mention it? Believe me, it’s stuck there now.” Sort of, because she wasn’t entirely certain she remembered exactly what it was she hadn’t been thinking about. Of course, Susan just kept up being her own perceptive self, and again earned herself a hand gesture to indicate that of course there was a something to what Rose was saying. “Not just stellar but hella patient and accepting too,” she agreed, “as well as either broad shoulders or amazing boobs, all depending on the gender, mind.” Really, Rose wasn’t picky. Not much, at least. But when you looked at her friends, could you really blame her? She didn’t think so. “Because it’s pretty!” She burst out indicating the bottle. “Or all the boring things like to show which region it’s from and the level of dedication to the preparation before the bottle is filled and it does add just a tiny bit to the taste. The family who makes this is the only place I buy it from, because they’re just…” making a circling with her thumb and middlefinger, Rose pressed a kiss to it as a seal of approval.

Susan winked lasciviously at her friend. "It's stuck in there now? That's what she said." She poured herself another shot and handed one over to Rose. "Those are very good things to look for in a man Rosie," she slurred. "A nice dick is always good, or boobs. Mmmm boobs." She lifted her shot glass up and saluted the bottle with the care of a child crossing a floor made of lava. "I love a good bottle of... stuff. Yes, good stuff."

"Also," she said leaning forward. "I think I know a person who I can see you with. He's so lovely, I bet Dennis the Menace would agree with me." She looked around blearily. "Where is Dennis the Menace? That boy never seems to be in the room at the same time as me. I'm starting to think we're secretly the same person," she laughed with a hiccup.

Rose paused for a moment, then sputtered a laugh at the joke, that hadn’t really been funny, except it had, because she had said that, and for some reason that just made it exceptionally funny. She didn’t even notice the ease with which she tilted her head back and downed the shot she had just been given. “It’s țuică,” she said. “Tzwee-ka,” she enunciated, slowly. “Good dick,” she agreed raising a finger to point that out, “elegant fingers and broad shoulders, and she needs good boobs and long legs. Long legs. Oh, and pouty lips, just a little to…” Rose pouted her lips slightly, just showing the sort of sultriness she liked in a woman’s lips.

“Also,” Rose repeated, mimicking Susan when she leaned forward to hear what she had to say. She squinted slightly at her friend, trying to determine what she was getting at, then held up a finger. “First of al- well, Dennis at work. He’s always at work, so no surprise there, but first of all, you couldn’t secretly be Dennis, because he does not have that interest and appreciation for witches that you do. And second, if you say that Rolf’s the lovely person you could see me with, I say try again, because everybody knows that, so no surprise there. Let’s be original here.”

Rose's laugh brought out another laugh in Susan, which then resulted in more laughter from Rose. For several minutes they sat there, drinking their shots and laughing, with tears streaming down their eyes. "Tzwee-ka means good dick? No wonder I like drinking it!" She watched Rose pull a sexy face, and guffawed quietly. "Kissy kissy," she said, dissolving into a fresh wave of laughter.

She pouted ridiculously, crushed that Dennis was at work. He was one of her favourites and she remembered him fondly from her DA days. "Silly Dennis, he should be here drinking țuică with us, not running across the rooftops of London like Blurcock Moans," she frowned, that wans't right. "Blurcock Moans," she tried again, "Sherlock Jones? Derfrock Holmes? Sherlock Bones! Anyway he should not be reporting but drinking." Her logic was severely drunk but made perfect sense to her. She waved her hand dismissively. "Everyone knows you two are perfect for one another. Everryone! I know it," she pointed at herself, "Dennis knows it, you know it, he knows it," she pointed at a cupboard, "Rolf doesn't but that's because he is silly. Everyone knows. Except Rolf."

“Nooo,” Rose cried; she had only just managed to barely get her laughter under control when Susan messed everything up and Rose once again found herself gasping for air, clutching her still aching ribs while wiping tears off her cheeks. “S’plum brandy, but good dick good!” Which made perfect sense to her and then she was lost again when Susan made a kissy face.

“Sherlock Bones!” Rose agreed, raising her glass in a toast to the Muggle detective about whom all she really knew was his name, and now that he apparently ran across rooftops. “He’ll be home eventually,” she assured Susan, because really, it was a shame that Dennis wasn’t here, because he would have known exactly what to tell Susan about Eddie. “Rolf’ll know,” she determined, certain in her case on that point. “Well, maybe he will, which will be wonderful or maybe he won’t, which will be just as brilliant.” Rose grinned at Susan. The friendship or relationship or bond or whatever you chose to call what she had with Rolf had always been special to her and she knew that. But it wasn’t something she was pining about or even trying to understand because what they had just worked. There was no lust, not yet, maybe not ever, but “just works. It just works. No twisted knickers or upset, he’s just Rolf.”

Susan frowned ponderously. "Susan no? SUSAN YESSS," she cried lifting her arms up much like a gymnast who upon messing up her landing, bludgeoned two of the judges and received full points. Tilting her head she sang a dirty little ditty in which she rhymed plum with another word and made allusions to it being ejected from a penis.

"Is it Sherlock Bones? I feel that's not quite right. Mum has a complete selection of... Arthur Ronan Boyle somewhere. That's also not right. His name does begin with Arthur." She looked at the nearly empty bottle and grimaced. "Dennis is going to growl at us, or you. Or maybe just me? One of us is going to get growled at. Tall growling," she said, before smirking at Rose. "Rolf is tall. You should climb that like a tree. But not a knicker twist tree."

Closing her eyes for a moment, Rose thought back visualising the books she had seen, though never read. Normally she could recall and recite random facts without hesitation, but the alcohol had put a blessedly tranquil blanket on her normally over-active mind. “The Adventures of,” she murmured, then opened her eyes with a triumphant grin, “Sherlock Holmes by A. Conan Doyle. Close! So close!”

Rose snorted, amused by the idea of Dennis growling at them, though, he probably would. “If he growls, it will either be both of us or me after you’ve left,” she assured her, then giggled, because she just couldn’t help it. “He needs a hug when he growls. Mostly.” Other times he just needed to be left alone. But Susan was spot on on the fact that he was tall, and so was Rolf, and that had Rose’s smile turn fond. “Rolf’s my spoon,” she said with a small smirk. “Don’t want to climb my spoon.” She paused when she realised what she had said. “Hey!” she burst out with a laugh and looked at Susan. “How did this end up being about me?”

Susan groaned and shook her head as if to remove the shroud of alcoholic fogginess from her brain. "Oh my mother would be so ashamed if she knew I'd got Sherlock bloody Holmes name wrong. She used to read me the books when I was a kid, and I read them to Edgar."

She pointed imperiously at a cupboard. "The house won't let him growl at us, he'll just have to be nice." She threw her head back and laughed easily. "He loves us too much to be mad at us does Cub, he's a good lad. A good sad lad. A good very sad cub lad. Huggings are what we should give him." She frowned for a moment, feeling the glimmer of an idea in her inebriated mind. "Maybe we can clone Rolf and make a gay one, so Dennis can have a man again!" She looked at the appalled expression on Rose's face and laughed. "I was joking, joking! Spoon Rolf is only spoons for you sweetheart. He doesn't ladle anyone else's soup, nor does he want to I think." She snorted and looked at Rose with a would-be-severe expression. "Because you is much funnerer to talk about than me."
