In a little over a month I will be a quarter of a century old and what do I have to show for it?

Private - other pureblood Slytherins of like mind can see
Nothing, that is what I have to show for it. In my lifetime my mother and the parents of my contemporaries watched their way of life disappear. What had been certain upon our births is now no longer an acceptable possibility. Even if my generation chose to accept and uphold those traditions we would be ostracized and belittled. Anything not seen as full acceptance of Muggle culture is decried as hatred and intolerance.

I definitely do not agree with the manner in which some attempted to wipe away all that was not pure. Still there were some things that were worth keeping because not all tradition is bad. Why is it demanded that we accept things we do not understand and have no history of when others refuse to do the same?

It is rather strange, I agree. I have some real moments of disconnect. Of course, my aunt keeps trying to arrange my marriage, something I never really minded when it was my parents taking my considerations into account. People sometimes seem so appalled at the notion, though, when I grew up accepting it.

I still keep to some of the traditions, at least, even as I work to adapt.

Arranged marriages are definitely something that have been lost. Love is an overrated ideal in today's world. It seems to be something tossed around without care. At least in arrangements there was mutual respect that tended to prohibit the mindless selfishness that all to often plagues relationships.

That is a tradition I am beginning to wish more embraced and understood.

My aunt still tries, and I don't know, maybe one day I'll give in. I don't like the current option. I'm lost amid what goes for the dating world any more, though. I have no idea where I stand. There's none of the traditional gifts or words, so I don't know what it all means.

I completely understand not knowing how to maneuver. I thought I knew it all but now I'd definitely not so sure.
