Journal - Entertain me.
It's a nice day, my match is done for the week. And where am I? Stuck in the fucking hairdresser all day.

I will answer your questions.

Entertain me?

What's your favourite memory of playing Quidditch at Hogwarts???

My favourite memory is possibly from my trial for the Slytherin team actually. The captain didn't expect much from a female muggleborn student (although they did say Mudblood) and set me up this really easy course to navigate while fending off bludgers. I aimed every single one at the existing team, and the last one at his face. He nearly didn't duck in time. Fucking priceless.

They almost had to let me on after that. First time I was allowed to try out too.

I remember hearing about that; it was still talked about during my time at school.

Well that's kind of gratifying. It definitely got around in my time. Slughorn spread it.

We were always amused how you put the captain in his place.

He already thought my gender and my blood status were going to make me terrible. I had to do something. He didn't go on to be a professional either.

Very few who behave like him go on to be professional, luckily. One of the many aspects I love of the game is how unbiased it is to your gender and blood.

I really hope your biography is printed one day.

I don't think I'm ready for that just yet. Much less the general public. The wizarding world can be pretty conservative, excellent sex shops aside!

What's the worst haircut you've ever had?

Wow, you asked the black woman a hair question. Although I did say I was at the hairdressers.

I was a child in the 80s, I had some weird shit. But basically anything that meant relaxing my hair was a terrible idea, the chemicals do horrible shit to your head and my family is muggle so I never bothered finding the wizarding equivalent. And asymmetric anything is not good.

I'll stick to my braids now, even if they take hours.

My mum used to cut my hair herself - and all my sisters. I had a terrible page-boy haircut that took forever to grow out. Then when I finally got to a real hairdressers I went a little crazy and decided I desperately needed chunky highlights. (I should burn all the pictures of that phase.)

My family was basically the only black one in our community, my mum sorted my hair for years. (Not cutting, just day-to day styling.) I had a handle on it by the time I went to Hogwarts, well mostly. Like I said I stick to braids these days, and I get a professional to do them when they need it. And I have wigs for special occasions.

That's sensible. I keep mine just long enough that I can scrape it all back into a ponytail because I hated having it around my face while I was climbing.

I climbed trees as a kid, used to get twigs and leaves in my hair. That didn't make me popular and did get my head near-shaved one time. Just made it easier.

For me it was the knees of jeans getting dirty or worn through. I learned to wear shorts even when it's cold.

So how are you feeling about this Quidditch season?

I'm feeling good. It looks like the top 8 are already set, even if the order might switch around before we're out. I'm really pleased with how the team has been playing, and my injury aside we've had a good season. And considering we're playing Wasps next week and the Arrows have the Falcons we have a shot at being top of the table before the playoffs.

And in either case we're doing far better than you are. But at least you're top 8 with a decent buffer.

Yeah I have no idea what happened to us this season; I know Puddlemere is better than middle of the pack, and yet there we are.

You'll have no issues with the Arrows, they seem like they're getting a little sloppy in their last few plays.

I'll admit you're usually better than this.

End of the season brings out the best or the worst in a team. Not always sure which way it'll go until it happens.
